First and only time trying out Continental Coffee and I was very disappointed with my experience.
I was looking for a local coffee shop to do some work on my laptop at and stumbbled upon this place and thought I would give it a shot. Went up to order a cappuccino and the staff serving me came off as a little rude. She was short with me, didn't greet me or smile and just kind of asked "what I want". I didn't feel welcome. Maybe she was just having a bad day.
Having been to many coffee shops, I know about how long it takes to make a cappuccino but I found that this cappuccino was made in a rush and made without much care or attention. It seemed to me that the shot was not poured long enough and there was not enough time allocated to allow the milk to foam. The staff didn't seem like experienced baristas.
That being said, I am by no means a barista, this was purely based on my experience as a customer and my observations. I did not enjoy the cappuccino compared to other local coffee shops I've been to.
On a separate note, I could not seem to connect to the WiFi here! I asked another gentleman next to me if he was having troubles connecting and he told me he was connected but that the wifi was very spotty. Probably not the best place to bring a laptop and do work if you plan to connect to the wifi.
Overall, I would not recommend this...
Read moreI do a large amount of remote work and because of this I have explored many of the coffee shops around Vancouver. Continental is without a doubt one of my favourites that constantly keeps me coming back.
First off the staff are just all around awesome people. They are always so positive, friendly and accommodating. It's obvious that the management does a great job of cultivating a fun work environment.
The awesomeness doesn't stop with the staff. Their coffee is superb, if you have never had a siphon and aren't in a hurry I highly recommend trying it here, it's a $4.50 cup but it won't disappoint. Continental also serves pastries, paninis and gelato. None of this stuff will knock your socks off but will satisfy your cravings.
It's not a massive shop, but I have rarely had any issues with seating. They only have outlets at their high tables, but I have never had trouble asking other patrons to switch spots with me.
Unlike so many other "hip" coffee shops around Vancouver Continental manages to remain down to earth and keep its neighbourhood roots. If you need a spot to do some work or just want a great cup of coffee you can't go wrong with...
Read moreI don't really write reviews but I would like to share my experience here. I've been going here for a while ever since I was high school and I absolutely love the coffee and food that they serve here. However, recently I've been going in the morning to get my coffee and the staff are really rude and just so unfriendly. After the first time that happened I let it slide because as a current service worker I understand that there are so many different reasons an employee may be acting that way - internal issues, personal life, maybe just having a bad day? but then it happened again... then again... then again. I stopped going for a while but, yesterday morning, I decided to give them one last chance before just making another coffee shop on that strip my regular spot. I had high hopes since the particular staff member seemed to be smiling under their mask and being friendly towards the person in front of me but when I came up her tone and attitude completely changed.
I am a south east asian. The man in front of me was a white. Do what you will with that...
