I came here for lunch and I'm not sure how so many things could go wrong. Murphy's law right?
My gf and I split a burger, the pancake and a salad. Food took a VERY long time to arrive. I was quite surprised because it was around 145pm and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. Perhaps there was 3 tables inside and 2 tables outside that were seated? When food came, I was already starving from a workout so I inhaled the burger. I was underwhelmed by the tiny amount of protein.. it was only a couple super thin pieces of mushroom, fried with a ton of batter. Regardless, I was hungry and anything would do. The flavour wasn't bad.. just wished there was more protein to balance the large amount of bun.
My gf pointed out that there was a hair on the pancake. Honestly, we were so hungry as we had waited for such a LONG time.. we were okay with it. We both agreed, though it was on the plate.. it wasn't touching the food (lol). But then, when we inspected the salad, we saw that there was again, another hair. Short, dark brown and curly hairs and it was embedded/ touching the food. We then became worried that we would find more inside the layers of the salad or the pancake so we sent the food back. It felt like an hour had passed. I wondered if I was unclear.. were they going to bring replacement plates..? My friend asked the waitress if the food was going to come. I wished they would have communicated some updates eg. "sorry we forgot to ring it in," "there was a complicated dish ahead of yours, but now we are working on it!" It was kind of them to comp both dishes because of the unnecessarily long and frustrating wait. When the pancake and salad arrive, we both agreed that it was overly salted. At this point.. we wished they had forgotten about the food and just asked us we still wanted it to come.
When our waters were refilled, a 'floaty' appeared. Waitress was attentive to give my friend a new glass and water from a different pitcher. But again, kinda gross.
When we reminded them for take out containers, I noticed that inside, there was a dirty spot perhaps old food or mold in the container? Now I'm regretting choosing this place as my friend and I had a limited time together and this was a restaurant I had raved to her before.
Overall, my concern is time management, hygiene and attention to detail. Why did our food take so long to come out the first time? Why does it take so long to remake a salad????? Are hairnets being used? Are pitchers being properly cleaned in between shifts?
I used to enjoy meet on main but this experience has really spoiled it. Perhaps I'll venture to the other...
Read moreAs an Uber Eats driver, I feel compelled to share my recent experience, as it reflects poorly not only on the restaurant’s operations but also on how delivery partners are treated. This is not just a minor inconvenience-these issues are significant and need urgent attention if the restaurant cares about its reputation and ongoing partnerships with delivery services. First, the wait times are unacceptable. I was told the order would be ready in about five minutes, but I ended up waiting over 15 minutes for a delivery that pays barely five dollars. This is not a one-off; it’s a recurring issue. If your restaurant is busy and orders are taking longer than usual, you must update your estimated order times in the Uber Eats app. Making drivers wait this long without warning is disrespectful of our time and directly impacts our earnings. Second, the way drivers are treated by staff is simply not acceptable. Not only are we not allowed to wait inside-even in extreme weather conditions-but I was also told, quite rudely, to wait outside. There was no courtesy or basic respect, just a blunt order to leave the premises. Another driver alongside me was treated the same way, particularly by the bartender with long hair, whose attitude was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. On a personal note, I have always visited this restaurant during lunch and dinner hours to enjoy a nice meal. However, after this experience, I can say with certainty that I will never come here again. The poor treatment of delivery drivers and the lack of respect shown make it impossible for me to support this establishment any longer. This kind of behavior is damaging to your reputation. If this is how you treat delivery partners, it’s only a matter of time before it affects your customer service as well. I have left a negative review on the Uber Eats app and am posting here so that management takes this seriously. If you want to maintain good relationships with delivery services and ensure customers get their food on time, you need to address these issues immediately-improve your communication, update your order times, and treat drivers with basic respect. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, because if things don’t change, it will only get worse for drivers, guests and...
Read moreI'd been reading about La Poutine Week for a few years now but hadn't gotten around to trying it. We had tried Meet on Main restaurant once and loved it, so when I read that Meet on Main was part of La Poutine Week this year I decided, "This is the year that I will finally try a La Poutine Week poutine!"
My daughter and I are poutine lovers so this was an excellent mother/daughter outing for us. Meet on Main 's offering for La Poutine Week is called "Meet Yr Maker" Poutine. It's a plant based poutine with gravy, cheez shred, mac n cheez, bac'n chunks, buffalo sauce and ranch sauce.
Usually, our daughter just orders a plain, basic poutine wherever she goes. This was the first time she'd tried a fancier poutine with toppings other than gravy and cheese curds. She loved this and so did I! It's a mound of comfort foods packed into one dish, and plant based to boot! Oh Meet on Main , "Please please please add this to your regular menu!!!"
Oh, we also ordered and shared their Nashville Hunny Glazed Mac n Cheez Donuts. Those were heavenly too. Imagine Mac n Cheese, molded into the shape of a donut and finished off with a crunchy panko crust. Also plant based. The Nashville hunny glaze gives an extra kick but honestly, we feel that the Mac n Cheez Donuts taste good already on their own. The hunny glaze is a nice option for those who like a bit of extra spice, but unnecessary for us.
Poutine lover or not, meat lover or not...Meet on Main is a "must try"!
