Read moreLove the interior here, and even their cutlery, cups/glasses were beautiful. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. Nice and cozy place for drinks and conversations. 1 oz for $7 and 2 oz for $10.
Came here for their Happy Hour menu drinks. I came here on a Saturday (Sat & Sun Happy Hour 2-5pm), weekday hours vary I believe (roughly 3pm or 4pm to 6pm)
Our order:
Indian Summer: tequila, pomegranate, pink salt, lime. Unique and tasty drink, as I don't see pomegranate drinks often (or ever) anywhere else.
Western Ghats: vodka, cherry lemonade, sparkling water - I'm personally not a fan of cherry but my friend said it was delicious and refreshing with the added bubbles from the sparkling water.
Nagpur: orange, grapefruit, soda, lime - I really enjoyed this one, it has a neat citrus-y blend with a kick.
Tandoori Wings ($9): super flavourful and juicy wings, with a tasty charred flavourful. Highly recommend this.
Beautifully presented drinks that pack a punch. Might as well 2 oz everything.
Also tried their chaat ("savoury snacks") on a separate visit, which are popular and typically served at road-side stalls or food cars in India.
My order:
Samosa Chaat: the samosa's were HUGE and very very filling, so I would recommend sharing if you'd like to try other dishes. Spiced potatoes, onions and peas are stuffed in a savoury pastry. It's also loaded with a lot of toppings, house-made chutneys (sauces), Indian yogurt, and my personal favourite which were these crunchy mini-sticks on top (sorry, I don't know the name of it).
Sev Puri (wheat balls w/ various fillings): Hollow crunchy wheat balls (which already taste great by themselves), and are filled with a bunch of stuff as well including chickpeas, onions cilantro, pomegranate etc. Highly addictive, bited-sized and vegan.
Vada Pav (fried potato dumpling in bread): The bun is amazing, it's toasted on butter and has a great chewy texture. The fried potato dumpling tastes like a mini samosa to me. Also very filling. Overall, everything was very flavourful. This restaurant definitely pays attention to details - their food, flavours, decor,...
Read moreSula Indian Restaurant in Vancouver is a delightful dining destination that offers a wide range of flavorful Indian dishes. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying some of their delectable offerings.
The paneer fingers I ordered were a true delight. They were perfectly crispy, and the coating had a wonderful blend of flavors reminiscent of chat masala. The paneer itself was incredibly soft and added a delightful creaminess to each bite. It was truly a delicious appetizer that I would highly recommend.
Another standout dish was the aloo peas paratha. It was expertly prepared with a perfect balance of roasting and spicing. Each bite was bursting with the flavors of the potatoes and peas, and the paratha itself was wonderfully flaky. It was a truly satisfying and delicious dish that left me wanting more.
The tandoori and garlic naan at Sula Indian Restaurant were also noteworthy. The garlic naan, in particular, had a genuine garlic flavor that added an extra dimension to the bread. Both naan varieties were soft and freshly made, complementing the main dishes perfectly.
One of the standout curries I tried was the Kofta Dil Bahar. The curry itself was amazing, with a slightly sweet and tart flavor profile combined with a creamy texture. However, the koftas, unfortunately, were a bit hard and could have been more flavorful. While this aspect slightly affected the dish, the overall combination of flavors was still enjoyable.
In terms of the ambiance, Sula Indian Restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. The decor is beautiful, creating a pleasant and inviting dining environment. It adds to the overall dining experience and enhances the enjoyment of the meal.
To summarize, Sula Indian Restaurant is a pretty good place to satisfy your Indian food cravings in Vancouver. With its delicious paneer fingers, flavorful aloo peas paratha, tasty naan varieties, and wonderful ambiance, it offers a satisfying dining experience. Although the koftas in the Kofta Dil Bahar dish could have been improved, I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic...
