Small counter-serve peri peri chicken shack also serving some other foods like shrimp and paneer bowls and an array of side dishes. A variety of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake is available too. They have 3 tables and you can dine in if you wish, but it looks like they do a ton of takeout and delivery, and that's the majority of customers. While service is perhaps not the most important thing at an in-and-out place like this, the person who took my order was really nice and I appreciated that. Not too long of a wait for my food even though they were processing a lot of takeout orders at the same time. I don't eat chicken but I love the flavours of this kind of food so I'm glad they have other options. I tried the mango paneer rice bowl with grilled vegetables. Interestingly, the paneer cubes were very small, but there were a ton of them, so I liked this because it made it easy to get a piece of paneer in every bite and it really maximized the nice charred edges. The veggies were nicely cooked too with a slight char The sauce was delicious but for my taste the bowl was a little sauce-heavy. The best way I can think to explain it is this - the sauce was creamy and the amount of it kind of gave the bowl the slightly greasy feel of something that's been doused in mayo, particularly at the end when it was just getting down to rice (not sure if there was actually mayo or not). That was the only thing that wasn't to my liking, and I really enjoyed the dish otherwise. I got a slice of mango key lime cheesecake as well, as I have a hard time resisting cheesecake. The cheesecake was a little sweet for my taste as I prefer a tangy cheesecake, but I liked the mango key lime flavour! I haven't had anything from Cheesecake Factory in ages, and while I would say most cheesecakes that you'll get from local or specialty dessert shops are better, it definitely beats out generic cheesecake. While I will never be able to speak for the chicken, I would recommend the place based on the paneer bowl, and I'll probably be back at some point to try...
Read moreThis is a newly opened restaurant about 3 months back. Similar concept to Nando's or Barcelos (peri peri grilled chicken wraps and rice) but more of a no frills interior and fast food model. Called ahead to confirm if dine in was open, and the manager lady was friendly and said yes.
Ordered the paneer and rice with the house sauce. The taste was absolutely delightful. More on the spicier side, but the white sauce toned it down a bit. They also have a variety of sweet and fizzy drinks. The phone is buzzing off the hook and there is a constant stream of delivery app pickups.
However they accept cards only which wasn't mentioned anywhere and was only told after placing the order. Luckily they did have some cash for change, but be sure to get your card. No bill was given either.
Also the East Indian girl at the back (guessing the owner) kept shouting profanities about how some customer that she doesn't like keeps showing up and placing orders. I felt that kind of ruined the mood. Also the price including tips was around $20, and the quantity of food left me still hungry. Let alone leftovers, I had to grab something else to eat once home to satiate myself. It would also be good if they have a dedicated person up front, as it was quite time consuming and difficult for us to get their attention. Washrooms and seating available, clean and minimalist design.
For a restaurant that has just begun, is competing with several others in the area, is self service, and also doesn't serve alcohol, the prices were expensive. Recommended for a...
Read moreGreat tasting peri peri chicken!
Tried them for the first time over the weekend. Called in ahead of time to check for any dine-in spots. It's very limited for two tables with four tables each. Keep in mind, should you want to eat at the location. You should expect a trendy rustic fast-food layout, similar to Chipotle. Takeouts through food delivery apps were going through like crazy. By calling an hour and a half from closing, the lady over the phone and in-person managing the store was phenomenal with her service and commentary. I should reiterate, you do not need to call in for this restaurant.
For the food itself, the chicken is very fresh and juicy - not dry at all. The peri peri seasoning on the fries were absolutely delicious; especially with the unique ranch sauce on the side. The mac & cheese was amazing too! Those sides alone would drag me down there again.
The sauce variety offered for the chicken varies, and for someone like me who can handle their heat very well, I found the mild sauce still more than enough for flavour without actually going into more spicy heat. Keep in mind, if you don't do well with spicy heat, I'd recommend sticking to their original, or maybe their herb & citrus.
They offer variety craft soda, craft juice, and craft lemonade. In addition to the more well known traditional soft...
