Edit: the restaurant also got inspected by local health authorities and passed with flying colours. So please stop blaming this restaurant when like I said there are other multiple causes. Please support these guys too, they’re literally one of the best taco places in Vancouver. Thank you for taking the time to reply as well Brian, I would love to try the Fall/Winter menu again when it rolls out.
It’s my go to place in Vancouver for tacos and their ceviche is also great as well. I see there’s reviews based off a tiktok about rat infestations from local homeowners but this area has other food outlets so Los Cuervo is not to blame, if not then not the only one at least. I haven’t seen rats or mice in public sighting whenever I eat here. Keep in mind as well that there is a demolition and construction in the outlet across Fraser Street where Sal y Limon and AJ’s use to be which happened 1-2 months ago and is still ongoing which is the same time these rat reviews are being posted. From my experience, demolition of buildings that had pests prior will lead to the same pests scattering throughout the neighbourhood. Same area also has a COMMUNAL garbage dumpster that I see literally out in the open whenever I drive past this area. A SINGLE RESTAURANT IS NOT TO BLAME FOR ANOTHER HOUSE’S RAT INFESTATION! This is probably the longest review I ever wrote but I’m not going to let a good place get slandered because of a tiktok where they haven’t done research or blame the next person for any problem that comes their way. In other words USE YOUR COMMON SENSE PEOPLE!
Anyways, real review:
Tacos: my favourite go to orders are Whaco Taco (strongly recommend this one for your first time. It’s basically a loaded birria taco), camarón (shrimp), atún (ahi tuna), Al Pastor (pork and one of my favs from mexico. This place does it justice) If you’re vegetarian I recommend the Nopal (cactus, it sounds odd if you never had it but I assure it’s great)
Churros: not much of a sweets guy but my friends seem to like them
Cocktails: 8/10 with a solid margarita on their menu
Happy Hour: 2 6-inch tacos for $12 is pretty affordable in Vancouver nowadays alongside $6 taps and tequila and $12 cocktails
Service: prompt and nice service staff
Price: I eat a lot so I spend like $30-40 typically but I think for a normal appetite you’re more within $20
Anyways don’t let a singular TikTok that doesn’t even show the restaurant itself make...
Read moreLos Cuervos was a place that surprised me. I’ve driven past it too many times, and finally decided to check it out!
When you first enter, it has tile floors, ferry lights and very colourful walls. Our waiter offered great recommendations and supplied great serious. The place is pretty small and it kinda feels like you’ve temporarily left Vancouver.
What we ordered: 🐮 Birria 🐔 Pollo 🦬 Alambre 🥦 Coliflor 🌵 Nopal 🌱 Ejote
Firstly, I’d say 3-4 tacos is all you need, because they’re pretty filling. My favourite vegetarian taco was the Nopal, it was refreshing with the pico de gallo like topping they paired with the cactus. It’s also pretty unique to have a cactus taco in itself here! Th green beans (ejote) were very flavourful and balanced well with the tamarind sauce for some sweetness and the leeks was a nice touch. The best part of the cauliflower (coliflor) was how well battered it was, not too oily, thin batter and crispy! Overall, I was impressed with the vegetarian tacos.
As for the meat tacos, alambre was my partners favourite. The crispy peppers balanced the richness of the meat and bacon, making it a great combo. The Birria was very juicy and the onions added good crunch and texture. Lastly, the chicken was very chicken (as worded by him, and not me 😅).
Overall, I’m definitely coming back. I was impressed by the options, how flavourful they were and I love texture, so that’s brownie points for me. Price is also reasonable, with most tacos being around $6 each… however, happy hour is 2 for $10, so that’s a...
Read moreI finally made it and I'm already planning my next visit. Due to the fact I was driving I couldn't partake in my favorite beverage, the margarita, so obviously a trip back is due. Very soon!
I had family visiting and we dined in. Although scorching hot outside and no AC, they definitely did their best with ample fans on. Once my body got used to it, it was fine. Tables were outside on the grassy area to the side which I thought that was a nice touch. Also outside tables in the front but in full sun :-)
I opted for a cauliflower taco and an avocado one whereas my bro did chicken and the beef brisket. Happy Hour tacos are 2 for $10! The tacos were so fresh...so colorful and so flavorful. I was shocked at the quality and quantity...they were just so full. I try veggie tacos in alot of places and these were without a doubt, the best I have had.
The service also has to be mentioned. Attentive without being intrusive and very welcoming....and thankful. As a customer service manager myself, I really appreciated it. I can't wait to go...
