Antonino's Pizzeria & Panini — Restaurant in Vaughan

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was in the area and found Antonino's listed with good reviews, so I called and said, "I haven't looked at your menu or your website, but do you have thin crust margherita pizza?" They said yes. So I ordered two and waited 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, I pick it up and open it in my car just to make sure I got the right pizzas. I see two regular cheese pizzas. I call and explain that I was expecting margherita--not a plain cheese pizza--and the person on the phone says I can come in to discuss. I go inside and someone who seemed to be the owner confronts me stating that a margherita pizza is just a regular cheese pizza. I politely said that I'm sure he knows more about pizza than I do, but every other restaurant I've been, a margherita pizza is not just a regular cheese pizza...it's got blobs of cheese, tomato, basil, and olive oil. I even showed him that when you search on google, every single picture of a margherita pizza is what I described rather than a regular cheese pizza.

The owner denies that there's a difference between a regular cheese pizza and a margherita. He then cusses me off, says "are you serious?" and "this is $30 worth of pizza, buddy." I said I didn't want a regular cheese pizza. He tells the cashier to give me $30 back in cash and then he goes into the kitchen yelling out his anger. Comes back and sits at the table and mutters to himself (all I hear is "...basil...margherita...seriously"). Not satisfied with how much of a fool he's already made himself, he says, "do me a favour, don't come back here."

WOW! Post COVID, things were disappointing. I even gave them a 1 star review. However, they've upped the plate. The food... absolutely delicious! Today, I had a panzorotto from them.... deep fried, as when you want to treat yourself, treat yourself right! The size, the toppings.. the flavors and the amount of cheese.... beyond perfect. Of course, I ordered it and ate it up right away. The longer it sits covered in a box, or packing... it's best to eat it and enjoy it immediately, or it's not the same anymore. 2 wonderful girls at the counter. The owner, for sure replenishing stock from his vehicle to the store... old school and perfect and didn't ignore me, but stopped to say a friendly hello and then continued on with his work. You can't get better than this! The restaurant is open, with patrons enjoying their food. Yes! I am absolutely impressed and satisfied! Thank you! I went on a Saturday afternoon and there were two other parties in the restaurant so it was not too crowded. The service was fast and friendly and it was a pretty relaxed and casual atmosphere. If you want to order a drink you can just tell the server and grab your own can or bottle from the fridge. There was a family eating there who seemed to have called ahead and got their food ready so that it was right there waiting for them as they arrived. This struck me as a sign of longstanding and good customer service. I ordered a veal sandwich and a pizza. The veal sandwich was quite substantial in portion I was only able to finish half. It was nice and tasty and unlike some other places was not dry. The pizza dough was not anything to write home about but the sauce was great and the cheese tasted of quality. Definitely worth the price. I would certainly...
