I am sad to be writing this review. Sushi Field Admirals is by far my favourite sushi place in victoria, but I decided to try the Fairfield location as it was the only one available on Uber eats. Firstly, i asked for chopsticks and didn’t receive it. I ordered the Dinner Special beef and a sushi roll. The miso soup was hot, but it tasted like water. It was so bland and it’s so disappointing as I’ve never had bad miso soup before. It was so flavourless and i couldn’t finish it. I got 3 pieces of the tempura (broccoli, yam, and shrimp) when I usually get at least 2 shrimps and a bit more selection. I’ve gotten this exact same order at the Admirals Rd location SEVERAL times. The tempura was fine even though it was so little. My actual dinner was the most disappointing. The rice was extremely wet and sticky, almost impossible to pick with chopsticks. The salad was tiny, even though at the other location I would get a full container full of this salad. This was so lacking for $30 and I’m so disappointed. The beef was also so bland and dry, barely any teriyaki sauce. I was expected almost the same flavour as how I usually get, but now i know I will not be coming back to this location. Not impressed especially considering there were many good...

NOT GOOD ANYMORE! Beware! I used to love this place and something has happened. I bring home my food now and 90% of the time something is off. Cold rice, tough beef, weird flavours and smells that aren't supposed to be there. And I have decided(because they used to be SOOOOOO good)to give them the benefit of the doubt --- but after about the tenth time I have to let everyone know ...they are very hit and miss now and after several phone calls and messages with absolutely no response back to me about my unpleasant experiences I am not going back.... so order with caution and don't say I didnt warn you. So sad. I guess when you get popular you say screw the loyal customers cause we don't need them anymore. Well, don't worry you wont see me back there again.

P.S. The reason I gave 4 stars is because I am aware of how Google will hide bad reviews and this place needs to be exposed . I am sick of getting ripped off PLUS not even being able to share my experience honestly over the internet. Shame on you Google.

My old review:Small, no liquor, nice staff. The name is cute and so is the interior. Lots of options without a bulky menu. It's the way a sushi joint is...

I sat down for a late lunch, with my computer, in this half-empty restaurant after the lunch rush today. Immediately after my meal, the server put the bill in front of me. Two minutes later, she put the card payment machine on my table, turned around, and walked away. When I asked her not to rush me, she stared at me blankly and replied “I’m not”. When I pointed out the machine, sitting between me and my computer on my table, she walked back, grabbed the machine without a word, and turned away again. I, and my family and friends, have been regulars at this establishment for the past eight months. I won’t bring them here again. For the record, the entire time I spent at Sushi Field today was 18 minutes, and I’ve never worked or brought my computer there before. I’ve also worked in customer service and know to always (with extremely rare exception) be a well-tipping and very appreciative customer. If I could give Sushi-Field a no-star review for the way I was treated today, I would. And this is the first first bad review I’ve...

A Pleasant Surprise After my lunch experience at the Admiral Rd location I did not expect such a satisfying quality of sashimi in the chirashi don. The salmon had a great texture. Their portion of tuna was very generous, in part because I didn't want tako. Tomago was very juicy and flavour was appropriate. The lemon was not needed. I associate lemon as a foreign way to mask "fishiness." Their fish was not fishy so the lemons were for my water. I found it unconventional that there was salad mix between the rice and sashimi but it worked well with the tuna. Oh and the rice was right on point. So I encourage people to come and try out Sushi Field. Maybe get some take out and head to the beach. Sushi by the beach is a uniquely authentic experience.

We love their Vegan Sushi 😋 and hope they continue to expand their vegan sushi options. Everyone who works here is super friendly and we love supporting their business. Pre covid when we dined-in, it was always a fun family experience and they are great with kids and families (ordering kids food and drink first, fast service for them, etc.). They have also been a favorite during Covid and a highlight during the week to ride our bike and go pick up some sushi lunch or dinner!

All the fish is incredibly fresh, they do an especially good yam roll and everything seems very balanced. Salmon and tuna were excellent, unagi was strangely the best I think I've ever had. Great little gem, they seem to take care to make everything flavorful and tasty. Second trip here, will definitely be coming back!
