So, I live in my car. Its not really funny. The funny thing is this housing crisis in Victoria. There's no affordable rent anywhere. So, I moved into my van when things got too crazy, and, I absolutely love it! What the heck does this have to do with Gonzales Bay? Well, i was told that this a great place to park overnight, without being asked to move (by police). I was told theres a beautiful beach with a park, wifi and washrooms. So I pulled in around 930pm, the parking lane was already full. I parked behind a camper and watched some Netflix, and at one point i noticed the lady parked ahead ran over to the washrooms and back. So i thought ok cool, yeah that building is washrooms for sure! I really had to pee but i wanted to finish this episode of Jessica Jones, so when the pee pee time came i ran over, it was now 1020pm, and someone had come and put padlocks on all the washrooms! So, ended up doin what people do sometimes, had to pee in a cup (which is weird when youre not in a doctors office). Gonzales bay is great for all the other things mentioned but not for...

It's got the only sandy beach on the south side of Victoria. Another is Willows, over to the east in central Oak Bay. Better sand here though. Crescent shape, good waves for skimming with a great slope. Diving rocks into deep water at both the east and west ends. Faces due south. Olympics in the distance. Tide pools on the rocky islands within the bay. It's other name is Foul Bay because of these making it a foul anchorage. Glacial erratic granite monolith prominently on walkable...

My favorite beach in Victoria. This curved bay with it's white sand beach is delightfully weather protected. The ever changing shoreline makes a walk here different from one day to the next. It has three access points from the street above and a small park at one end. There are also washrooms. A great place for a day of fun or relaxation with friends or kids. And I love that from September to May it is an off...

Great South facing light & Olympic mountain views, perfect for dogs (except June July August), youthful energy. West end of the beach is popular for elementary age children, east end is popular among young adults. Great skimboarding, paddleboarding, and wading!

My new favourite beach. It’s clean. Less busy. I love the water even though the ocean is freezing Tons of swimming room. It’s protected by sort of a water barrier in the area I go so the waves aren’t as strong. Overall, i recommend!

Absolutely beautiful beach in the Oak Bay Area. When the tide goes out there is a tremendous amount of Beach rocks for kids to play on. When the tide is starting to come in it is for boo keyboards and it is also dog friendly
