I believe that this Beautiful Rose Garden was put in by Lieutenant Governor David Lam. He was a wonderful man, a generous philanthropist, and a caring human being. He left this wonderful garden as a legacy for the people of British Columbia. The grounds of the estate are enormous, and walking throughout is highly encouraged and recommended! Not only are the grounds immense, but there's a teahouse and museum to boot. Lucky us.

This rose garden is on the Government House grounds. Nice surprise. Roses definitely in this fenced garden and a short walk from Craigdarroch Castle. The role of lieutenant governor for BC made for some interesting reading. Also, when we were there the house was closed for renovations and scaffolding on the exterior. Ponds, forest with tall trees and of course the roses.

Amazing rose garden and a beautiful park. Located in the quiet residential area. It was a pleasure to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.

The Victorian Rose Garden at Government House in Victoria is a stunning example of horticultural beauty and historical significance. Typically in full bloom from late spring through early summer, this garden becomes a captivating tapestry of color, fragrance, and history, making it a must-see for anyone who appreciates nature's artistry.

What makes the Victorian Rose Garden so special is its meticulously curated collection of roses. Each variety is carefully chosen not only for its beauty but also for its historical relevance, reflecting the rich heritage of the Victorian era. As you wander through the garden, you’re surrounded by a delightful array of roses, from heirloom varieties to modern hybrids, each with its unique scent and story. The combination of colors, shapes, and fragrances creates a sensory experience that’s both enchanting and unforgettable.

The garden’s historical significance adds to its charm. Established to honor the traditional Victorian rose gardens, it serves as a living link to the past, celebrating the heritage of the region and the legacy of the Government House grounds. The garden is a testament to the enduring appeal of roses and their importance in the cultural and social history of Victoria.

The "Leave No Trace" policy is vital in preserving the beauty and integrity of the Victorian Rose Garden. Visitors are encouraged to respect the garden by staying on the designated paths, not picking the flowers, and ensuring that all trash is taken with them. This approach helps maintain the garden's pristine condition, allowing future generations to enjoy its splendor just as much as we do today.

The garden is lovingly maintained by the volunteer organization Friends of Government House Gardens Society, a group of dedicated individuals who pour their time, energy, and expertise into keeping the garden in top condition. Their passion for horticulture is evident in every blooming rose and perfectly pruned bush. These volunteers are truly amazing, working tirelessly to ensure that the garden remains a vibrant and beautiful space for all to enjoy. Their efforts are a labor of love, and their commitment to preserving this historic garden is nothing short of inspiring.

Visiting the Victorian Rose Garden is more than just a stroll through a beautiful space; it’s a journey through history, a celebration of nature’s beauty, and a testament to the community spirit that keeps it thriving. Whether you’re a gardening enthusiast, a history buff, or simply someone who appreciates the finer things in life, this garden is a special place that will leave a...
