PepperTree Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Watrous

We are new in town and heard about the Wed wing special at Peppertree. Went to the restaurant and sat down. Were told that we could not have the wing special unless we moved to the lounge area, so we did. We found a table in the lounge and after 10 minutes or so the manager told us he was moving us to another table that was smaller, despite the fact that there were only 2 other tables filled. We ordered 2 orders of wings and were told we also had to order an alcoholic beverage to get the special. We did even tho my partner usually doesnt drink (found it quite pricey for a pint $9 for domestic beer, no specials) The wings were very good although the service was slow and minimal, we rarely saw our waitress, in fact after we got our food we didn't see her again. When we wanted to leave we asked for a takeout container as we had a few wings and some uneaten fries. The manager told us we weren't allowed to have take out. We said we weren't ordering takeout, we just want to take home the food we couldn't eat that we paid for. He refused to allow us to take our leftovers. I told him I thought it was the most bizarre rule I've encountered at a restaurant but it was kind of fitting with all the other irritating issues and lack of customer service we experienced from the time we walked in. Used to love visiting this place every trip to Watrous. Amazing food, great service and an amazing sun room that felt incredible to dine in during spring and fall, bright, cosy and warm! They changed owners not long ago and it's not as good as it used to be. Visited yesterday to give them another chance. Service was awesome, food was quite good. They have a summer menu which looks great and appealing. I had the chicken quesadilla (not off the summer menu), it was quite good. However we used to love the margaritas there! Good value for the money and a great beverage overall! However, not the same anymore. I hoped the small margarita with no hint of alcohol last visit was a mistake or exception but I tried one again yesterday and I'm sorry to say same thing. Volume is less than half of previous which means you should be able to taste the supposed 2 ounces of alcohol but no, not a hint. So sorry, the food and service was good but it's disappointing to not be able to give a good overall positive rating. Food and service was good yesterday but I recommend getting bottled beverages, at least you know what you're getting. July 28, 2025 Wonderful people. As soon as I walked into the lounge I asked if they wanted to see proof that I'm allowed to have my ESA with me. They were like oh no not a problem come on in. Which was absolutely wonderful because we tried to go down to Mike's Beach Bar at Manitou Beach first and that did not go over so well. Mike was kind of rude to us in his approach about my dog. I offered to show him proof but he would not accept the proof that I had on my phone. I have taken my dog to provincial and federal courthouses never mind all the other places and I have never ever had a problem with anywhere not taking the proof that's on my phone to validate me having her. So when I walked into the Peppertree was totally refreshing. Our food was wonderful they took care of us they were constantly making sure we were all right seeing if we needed anything. They even offered me some water for my dog if I wanted it. That was...
