If you're ever in Welland and craving some flavorful Middle Eastern food, Shawarma House is absolutely a spot worth checking out. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the rich aroma of sizzling meats, garlic sauce, and fresh spices that instantly lets you know you're in for something special. The restaurant offers a wide variety of options – from traditional shawarma wraps and platters to falafel, hummus, rice bowls, and even specialty poutines. Whether you're a meat lover or prefer vegetarian options, there’s something here for everyone.
One of the most important highlights for our group was that the entire menu is halal, which gave us peace of mind and made our experience even more enjoyable. It's not always easy to find places that serve authentic halal Middle Eastern food in this area, so this was a major plus.
As for the food itself – it was phenomenal. The shawarma was juicy, seasoned perfectly, and sliced fresh off the rotisserie. The garlic sauce was incredibly creamy and full of flavor without being overpowering. The rice was fluffy and well-spiced, and the salads were crisp and fresh. Every bite had layers of flavor and it was clear that the ingredients used were fresh and handled with care. The portions were generous too – definitely great value for your money.
Now, in the spirit of transparency, I do want to mention that one of our dishes had a strand of hair in it. Accidents happen, and it can be disappointing – but what really stood out was how the staff handled it. We discreetly mentioned it to the counter staff, and they were very understanding and apologetic, offering to replace the dish without hesitation. They did so promptly and without any attitude, which we appreciated. Their willingness to correct the issue quickly showed professionalism, and we didn’t feel uncomfortable or ignored.
In terms of customer service overall – it was decent, not overly friendly but not rude either. They could definitely benefit from a bit more warmth and attentiveness at the front counter, especially during busy hours, but nothing that took away from the experience too much.
The ambiance of the place is casual, clean, and laid-back – perfect for a quick bite, takeout, or a casual sit-down meal with friends or family.
Final Verdict:
Food Quality: 9.5/10 – absolutely delicious. Menu Variety: 10/10 – great options for everyone. Customer Service: 7/10 – average, but did well with issue resolution. Cleanliness: 8/10 – generally clean and presentable. Halal Certification: 10/10 – huge bonus.
Would I return? Absolutely. And I’d recommend Shawarma House to anyone in or around Welland looking for authentic, tasty, and halal Middle...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have come here several times for lunch on the weekend. Once or twice we’ve eaten our food at the restaurant, but most of the time, we’ve taken our food to go.
Both of us quite liked our meals each time. I’ve only ever had the falafel wraps, and he’s gotten the chicken shawarma wrap each time. Although the wraps are a little on the small side according to my boyfriend, I was satisfied every time (and sometimes I couldn’t eat all of my wrap).
In my experience, this is one of the best falafel places in the Niagara Region and definitely the best location for falafel in Welland, and I think my boyfriend would say the same about the chicken shawarma although he’s not had this dish in as many places as I have except in other cities. The falafel wasn’t oily or overly deep fired, but was perfectly made and with the toppings I prefer.
I’m sure...
Read moreIf there is negative star I would give them. I won't recommend this place to anyone. I know this is the month of Ramadan and muslim fast but this doesnot give them permission to be disrespectful to the customer. I went there for lunch. I told the guy making the gyro that the upper layer is dry please make fresh gyro. But he didn't listen and gave me bone dry meat in my sandwich. I told him politely I can't even chew it and showed him chorcoaled meat. He went in an bought the older guy I believe he is the owner He started yelling and saying why aren't you fasting. You guys only want free food. I told him I want fresh food not the burnt food I left the food and the premises. Not going there again and feel sorry that due to halal and fresh food customer goes to shawarma stores but this establishment is giving a bad influence on all the other...
