Wish I read the reviews on the strawberry pie before I bought one. Out of the entire pie, there were 2 micro strawberries, we even cheered to the lucky winners of the berries (in all honesty, it was such an embarrassment dessert to bring to a party, I saw myself apologizing to everyone, pie was left over, and ended up just getting tossed) it was just basically an overly sweetened gelatin kind of jelly.

The butter tarts I had were not at all smooth inside, they were hard 4cm discs of thick fused granulated sugar. I couldn't even eat it. I threw it out. The blueberry tart? Raspberry? I don't remember what flavour, doesn't matter- it was hollow, so basically just dough. Anyways... the stars are for service not for the product.

If you love traditional pastries and pies, this is the bakery for you! I love the pies, tarts, cabbage rolls, and meat pies. This place excels at traditional pies: lemon meringue, wild blueberry, cherry, apple, sugar, pumpkin, the list goes on and on. They also make "pets de soeur" (nun's farts) - a cinnamon pastry from my childhood that my grandmother used to make with leftover pastry when she was baking. Chez Jean-Marc also has great fudge and doughnuts. Not those airy things that a famous doughnut chain serves, these are just like the homemade ones my great Aunt Mumu would make. Literally the icing on the cake!! I live 3.5 hours away and it was my boyfriend's birthday (who lives in Sturgeon Falls). I called first thing in the morning and asked if they could make and deliver a cake for me. They put the owner (Dan) on the phone and he said he was more than happy to deliver the cake himself over to my boyfriend's workplace to suprise him.
