Well...this is it folks! I've lived in Pickering/Whitby area for 30 years and this restaurant is heads above the rest.... east of Scarborough and west of Courtice. I had the pleasure of having the delicious Salmon & Spinach Benedict. I can honestly say that this is the best breakfast I've ever had..... in this area! The presentation was bang on....it looked amazing within the areas of portion size, color and placement. The bright colorful combination of the fresh fruits, avocado & blueberries worked well alongside the grilled potatoes that were garnished with flavorful peppers and seasoned to perfection. The Salmon and Spinach Benny was overflowing with Hollandaise Sauce, eggs cooked soft with an abundance of salmon/spinach. It was plated akin to French Cuisine...fine dining per say! This wasn't your average breakfast because it reflects the high standards set by the owner, Kumar. The potatoes were done perfectly and that's key to a good breakfast for me. The Benedict was delicious, fruits & avocado were fresh-cut! The meal was made to order, arrived hot and was decadently delicious. It was nice for the owner Kumar to introduce himself at our table. We all conversed for a few minutes. He's personable and obviously cared about our dining experience! We'll definitely be going back. I'm looking forward to it already! Check this little gem of a restaurant out for yourselves! You won't be disappointed!

This review is coming from a West Indian/ Caribbean who is particular about food taste and delivery. This place was well above my expectations!! I came because they had breakfast available later than 4pm but was completely blown away with how delicious the food was. I ordered the pancake breakfast with side bacon and sausage. Everything came out perfect and the home fries exceptional! Home fries come mixed with onions and peppers. Pancakes were light and fluffy. My partner got the smoked salmon omelette and was ready to make this our Sunday breakfast go-to place. Flavours were excellent. And he also loved the home fries and fruit. The owner/ chef has a home made hot sauce the is 5 star. Flavorful and with a real kick. He game me an extra container to bring home. We mixed the hot sauce with the ketchup for our home fries. Lots of fruit was provided on our plates, more than what I’m used to seeing at other breakfast restaurants. We didn’t pay more than $40, and after the fact the owner offered a lunch special for the road. I can’t wait to come back!

We decided to try this new breakfast restaurant for a change. As others have mentioned the interior is the same as the restaurant that previously filled this space, the result is a roomy and more upscale environment that also sports a bar. Unfortunately breakfast here is not something I would recommend. The coffee leans heavily on the acidic/sour side and even with the addition of sugar/dairy it was hard to drink. There was one other table of three guests in addition to my table that included myself and my partner. The wait for food after ordering was 25 minutes and one of the plates (eggs and french toast) was cold. The price to add sausage to that plate was $5. My meal, the eggs benedict, was warm and the sauce was buttery and luxurious which I liked. The peameal is sliced thinner than at competitor's restaurants. The home fries are cooked with onions and peppers and have the flavour of a southwest omelet, which others may or may not enjoy. The addition of fruit is a nice touch. I don't understand the need for sprouts though.

Went with my cousin to give this new breakfast restaurant a try. First thing that turned me off is that the interior is EXACTLY the same as the last restaurant that was in there. Which was a fine dining restaurant. The decor and atmosphere worked when it was fine dining, lots of mirrors, dark and broody, wine bottles, glasses etc. The decor does not work for a breakfast restaurant. Could possibly work if it was a high end brunch restaurant that served nice cocktails etc, to accompany your meal. The name of the last restaurant is still written across the mirror on the back wall in large script, and in the bathroom there is a still a photo of the last owners hanging. The music playing was that of a spa, which was putting me to sleep in the dark interior.

Now on to the food, the menu is small, which I actually prefer, but there is nothing to make it stand out from any other breakfast place. Typical bacon and eggs, pancakes, omelettes, chicken caesar wrap, BLT etc. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, to which I asked if the hollandaise was house made or out of a package, for $17.95 I figured it should be home made. Server told me it was from a package. I had to request poached eggs as it comes with over easy eggs. My cousin ordered the same. My exact order was, Eggs Benedict, poached medium, regular bacon crispy and home fries well done. It took about 45 minutes to receive our meals, and there were only 4 other tables so it was not busy at all. The presentation was ok, first thing I noticed was that my cousins plate had 2 pieces of asparagus on top of the few pieces of fruit, I had no asparagus. The fruit consisted of an orange slice (that was obviously cut the day before, one piece of cantaloupe, one piece of honey dew, and one slice of strawberry (not the whole strawberry a slice) and that was it. My cousins eggs were poached hard even though we had both ordered medium. My homefries appeared to be well done, but upon trying them, they were floppy, I honestly think they are cooked not in the moment, but ahead of time and then warmed up. There were not the least bit crispy. They are also not cooked with oil or butter, but for sure some kind of cooking spray as they have a very chemical taste. The bacon is very poor quality and my cousin suggested it tasted very much like the smell of a wet dog, thin and I am guessing no name. It was definitely not...

EGG and YOLK. Not just a breakfast place. They serve lunch and dinner. And they are licensed to sell liquor. We went with my daughter and granddaughter there today for breakfast. Chef Kumar, who is the BEST prepared a great kids meal of three pancakes, Blueberry, strawberry and chocolate chip ones and this was also served with their famous home fries. My three year old granddaughter was delighted. I had the western omelet which was served with their home fries toast and fruit. The portion was huge. I brought home half. Chef Kumar treated us to his homemade chicken and rice soup and it was the bomb. He also prepared Sri Lankan mutton curry and it rocked along with their homemade hot sauce. Next time we're going there for dinner. Check out their website. The prices are very reasonable, service absolutely amazing and I can't say enough about Chef Kumar. He's the absolute best. Thank you again Egg and Yolk for another perfect dining experience.

Egg and Yolk. And yet another visit to Egg and Yolk. This was our fourth time visiting. Again the food was phenomenal. The chef there is great. I ordered a western sandwich which was not on their menu but the chef especially prepared it for me. It truly was the best western sandwich I've eaten. The chef Kumar, puts love into everything he cooks. He came over to our table and we had a lovely chat. I love Sri Lankan curry and he gave us a sample of it to take home. It is super delicious. This gem of a restaurant needs to be explored by all. You will not be disappointed. The service is above excellent as well as the food. Thank you Kumar for another wonderful meal and taking the time to get to know us. You truly are amazing. This was the best dining experience we've had in...

This was a terrible experience. My friend and I took my sister for her first Mother's Day here and we got up and had to leave due to the poor service. We get there not very busy at all, the restaurant is not even half full. Once seated we proceeded to wait 25 minutes and no one came to the table, we asked someone walking by for some water, he said yes I will tell your waitress. Waited another 10 she comes over takes our order and we asked for water. I see her making my smoothie and then leaves it sitting in the blender for another 5 minutes. Still no water. We see her chatting with employees throughout the restaurant. The man who knew wanted water kept passing our table and avoided eye contact with us. We just wanted water, and he had a pitcher of water with him! My friend finally got up asked an older waitress who she was hoping was the manager for water. When she finally come to the table after 45 minutes of waiting she brings my smoothie one of the 2 coffees ordered and the water. My sister asked if the second coffee was coming and she was met with attitude as well as not a single sorry for the wait... FOR WATER. The smoothie was gross as it was sitting for awhile and was warm and the strawberry on it was very old. The coffee was burnt. So we left $5 and went to Starbucks. If it was actually busy in there I would have brushed it off as it is mother's day, however it was not busy. I would hate to go...
