A downtown Whitby restaurant definitely worth visiting if you can reserve a table (book in advance) as it's as hot as it's chicken tacos!

We had a table of 13 guests so took up a lot of room the day we were there but the team at Surf made the experience fun and were very accommodating. The restaurant ambiance was unique (cool SoCal layout and design) and the music upbeat and moving. The location may not be conducive for those looking to have a peaceful dinner but why should it when that's not the vibe it's going for. The restaurant makes a statement with its bold deco and layout.

For food they have a controlled but eclectic menu and given the size of our dining group we had a chance to taste about everything. The flavours are authentic and truly delicious. Watch out for the chicken taco that definitely has a kick to it but we loved it even more for that very reason. I recommend some of that sauce on the side to liven up some of the other dishes (if spice and flavour is your thing). Portions are decent but won't fill you up if you are hungry for a full dinner meal. Three tacos did it for me. Ask for their specials as the kitchen does change things up. A lot of vegetarian, gluten and dairy free options and servers are always willing to assist to ensure you have a solid dining experience.

All their signature cocktails are tik-tok or insta worthy and loaded with sufficient alcohol. We enjoyed all the drinks we tried and they are as unique as their names. We asked for a spicy Fuego and oh baby did the bar deliver - knocked the pants right off our guest. Don't be afraid to push your drinking palate a little further than just beer.

If there is one area I would fuss about it would be the parking situation but not even that would keep me (and our dining group) away for coming back. There is Green P and some street parking in and around the area.

Special mention goes out to their Churro Sundae that is true to die for. We plan to stop in from time to time just to enjoy this decadent dessert - it's bowl scraping good with flavours like guava and canela coming together to wow the senses (think party in...

Came for dinner tonight. I ordered a few cocktails and had some dinner. All in all the experience was really nice. Cocktails were excellently prepared with care, the blood orange margarita was delicious, and the "fuego" was nice and spicy with a good amount of tequila. I would definitely be back for both of these drinks alone.

Now for the food. The guac and chips were excellent as an appetizer, the chips nice and hot, and the guac nice and fresh. This was definitely made to order and a much larger than expected portion. I really loved it. The roasted brussel sprouts were also great, and so was the aoili that accompanied it. Definitely, both of the apps hit right on the mark.

Unfortunately, the tacos missed the mark and left some big room for improvement. The fish taco was crisp and light and included a large portion of fish that appeared to be fresh, not frozen, which was awesome to see. That being said, the taco was missing something, perhaps some spice or further seasoning. It was overall quite good, but it definitely could be great with some further fine tweaking. The Carnitas taco, on the other hand, was not very good at all, sadly. Carnitas, to me, should be tender and full of flavor. Unfortunately, we were served pork shoulder that was tough, dry, and with almost no flavor. It did not seem to be seasoned in a complementary way and is definitely an area for major improvement.

Overall, because of the 5 star service and all of the other great dishes, I gave the meal 4 stars.

I will be back and hopeful that they will address the issue with the Carnitas. I'm happy to see some decent food in...

A refreshing change of restaurants in Durham Region and in the downtown of Whitby. A small restaurant with a good sized bar serving area has quite the vibe for a dinner out.

A small menu including signature cocktails, some appetizers and tacos, but everything done really well. Completely gluten free as well for those who would benefit.

We ordered almost 1 of every item menu and they were fabulous. 6 of us shared the guacamole, the brussel sprouts and the street corn. The guacamole was to die for, exceptional, but pricey. If you run out of chips, it was a $5 charge for additional ones. A little steep in my opinion. The street corn and brussel sprouts were equally good and worth the value.

For cocktails they had run of of items to make 'The Golden' so we tried the Jungle Bird and Heatwave. These drinks were 10/10 for taste.

For taco's we ordered fish tacos, carnitas, jackfruit and they had a special that night for beef brisket tacos. Taco's are $8 each and you would definitely require more than 1, they are filled with excellent fresh toppings but the size is not too big.

The staff was fabulous and we even got to chat with the owner or manager after dinner.

4/5 stars due to price on taco's, guac, chips and running out of items for the cocktails. That being said, we will all be returning without a doubt. We were also told they will be opening a dog-friendly patio shortly as well!

You'd be foolish to not give this...
