I don’t have a single photo of my food, because it was all devoured in an embarrassingly short time frame😬
Balti has the best Indian cuisine I have EVER tasted. This is an amazing hidden gem, one that needs way more recognition. I couldn’t believe that they stayed empty for the entirety of the time we dined in, with how amazing the food and service was.
We ordered the vegetable samosas, onion bhaji, tandoori chicken momo, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and an order of rice.
Everything came quickly, and was served piping hot and plated beautifully. The samosas were hot, crispy, and perfectly salty/seasoned. The onion bhaji with the tamarind sauce were probably the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten! They were crispy, savoury, and flavourful. The momos were soft with bits of crunch around the edges, filled with the most tender meat, and seasoned perfectly. The tikka masala was spicy, fresh, and plentiful. The garlic naan was probably the best I’ve ever had, and the rice was perfectly cooked.
The staff was so attentive and helpful, the staff member who served us even offered to carry our heaping bags of leftovers to the car. The restaurant was clean and the music was lovely, and not too loud but we were still able to hear while chatting during our meal.
This is seriously the best establishment I have frequented in a very long time. Whatever you are doing, please continue to do so! I will be a very regular customer from now on.
The only downside was the water jug that they bring out doesn’t stay cold for long, so the water is lukewarm for most...

I had a wonderful experience dining at Balti Indian Restaurant in Whitby and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic and delicious Indian cuisine!
From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, making it a great spot for both family outings and casual dinners with friends.
We ordered a variety of dishes including Chicken Lollipop, Butter Chicken Momo, Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Shahi Paneer, Tandoori Chicken Fried Rice, along with sides like Garlic Naan, Lacha Paratha, Masala Tea, and Mango Lassi. Every single item we tried was flavorful, freshly prepared, and served in generous portions. Special mentions to the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Lamb Rogan Josh — they were absolutely packed with rich, authentic flavors! The Masala Tea and Mango Lassi were also the perfect complements to the meal.
The menu offers a great range of traditional Indian dishes, and the quality of food reflects genuine care and attention to taste. Prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity provided, and overall, we felt it was a great value for the experience.
One small suggestion — it would be even better if the restroom cleanliness is given a bit more attention, just to match the otherwise high standards of the restaurant.
Overall, Balti Indian Restaurant truly delivered an excellent dining experience, and I would gladly come back again and recommend it to others looking for a memorable Indian meal in...
Read moreI ordered Chicken Bhuna. I urge anyone reading this to go to their menu and check what the description says. And then based on the photo below (the second photo, with the orange-ish gravy), please see the vast and unpleasant difference. I am attaching a photo of another bhuna dish from a restaurant in Scarborough to set a reference for what true bhuna is like (I have personally had the dish from this restaurant). I am also attaching a pic of what arrived from Balti. The taste was exactly as you would imagine - bhuna means roasted and this was any random tomato-based gravy, absolutely nothing to do with bhuna. Also I am 100% certain of two things:
If I would have order any other dish (butter chicken, tikka masala etc.) the exact same thing would have arrived
Nothing will change. If I or anyone else orders in the future, the same thing will continue
The problem is that these restaurants are too lazy to replicate anything authentic, and too smug to think the customer will know any better. I urge paying customers not to be taken for granted (just as a proven example, pic attached, authentic bhuna is available 20 km west in Scarborough - I am not going to name the restaurant unfortunately so that nobody thinks I...
