We went to KB on a recommendation to celebrate our friends’ 25th anniversary. My hubby and I were warmly greeted and given the “history” of KB and explained how the restaurant worked, while we waited for our friends to arrive. After our friends arrived, we ordered drinks (some house specials that evening) and looked at the delish menu. Our server kindly told us that as everything is made in house, we can make substitutions, accommodations for allergies or slight changes as needed. That is fabulous, as I suffer from reflux disease and IBS.
We ordered delicious appies - the burrata was so delicious and creamy, the steak tartar was excellent, and the asparagus bruschetta was really unique and yummy. Our server was very attentive… at this point, checking in with us for drinks and taste!
We ordered four meal from the menu: 2 steak dinners, one mixed grill, and one halibut. I had already planned my meal before arriving, not realizing that the menu changes regularly. I decided to try the halibut, even though it mentioned that the sauce was a bit spicy. I explained to the waitress that I could not eat spice and she told me that it really wasn’t that spicy and didn’t offer to modify the spice level (weird as she offered before).
Fast forward - food arrives and it looked great. Sadly, both of the steaks were not really edible as they were sooo salty (my hubby likes salt but this was extreme). The mixed grill was also so salty except for the beef rib (which was delish according to our friend). Sadly, the lamb and steak were inedible. The potato croquette was so rock hard, the greeter was mortified and brought a new one. Not once during the time that our meal was brought to us (by other people) to over halfway through, did our server come back to asked how the meal was, how the taste was, did we need more drinks, etc. We were dying for more water due to the salt and spice. Sadly, by the time the server came, they had eaten the sides and left the rest. When I explained to the server that the fish, although extremely delicious, was very spicy, and that the other people at the table had tried it and said it was hotter than a medium salsa, she replied with “oh yeah, I guess I really like spicy foods”. That is not OK when I have specifically said that I cannot eat spice. When we told her about the salt level, she said that we should’ve said something sooner… But she was nowhere to be found to ask nor were any of the other servers available at the time.
So, after most of the food was boxed up so we could try to take it home and see if there was something we could do to salvage it, she asked if we wanted dessert. We were hoping maybe that would be included due to the mess up of meals but it wasn’t offered so we said no thanks, but the guys ordered specialty coffees. While they were waiting for the specialty coffees, they brought over four small sherry glasses filled with champagne, which was lovely, so we could toast to our friends’ 25th anniversary. The coffee arrived and so did the bill…. No offer to comp anything on the meal, no offered to provide a gift certificate to try and come back or even to provide some free desserts. Over $400 for 4 of us - which would’ve been fine. Had the meals been able to have been enjoyed. We are grateful that we ordered appetizers and we were able to eat them or else we would’ve been quite hungry.
Anyway, we will not be returning to KB. We thought maybe a restaurant of this calibre would’ve done better with Customer Service, especially when all food is made to order. I did read the reviews before coming, and I’m so glad that so many people have had a lovely experience and didn’t waste their time and money like we did… Especially on an evening that should’ve been special. The whole evening (and our dinners) left a bad taste in our mouth.
Here is the fish which was delish but so spicy and the super salty steak!
I won’t call the server out by name, but it is interesting how she started out so friendly and attentive… and then just lost...

It came with soup, veggies, stuffing, potatoes, homemade bread, gravy and dessert. The flavours were spot on. Thank you for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner!
Dine in Experience: We celebrated grandma’s 94th birthday with family and friends at KB foods and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The service was phenomenal (thank you Shelby!) and the quality of everything that came to the table was 10/10 (compliments to the chef!)
Literally farm to table dining experience- the head chef is the restaurant owner who also owns the farm where they source a great deal of their menu items. Most everything is also made in house including their pasta. I didn’t take many photos of the food but I did capture what I had which was the lamb shank and it was unbelievably delicious! From the veggies to the sauce to the fall of the bone shank itself. Wow.
The cocktails were delicious, the beer was fresh, the wine options were good and even their non alcoholic drinks were refreshing, homemade and delicious.
The ambience was perfect. Nicely dimly lit atmosphere which would be perfect for any occasion.
Thank you for both the wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner as well as the 10/10 sit down dining experience.
Job well...
Read moreThe service and atmosphere was out of this world. Best steak tartar I’ve ever had, to describe the taste all together as the freshest steak sandwich, flavours melded perfectly. I dream about it still to this day, I genuinely teared up the first bite I took. The crab cakes were melt in your mouth, full of flavour. With a light Caprese salad. We weren’t too hungry as we just travelled 8 hours and we’re looking for a nice place to grab drinks and apps near our Air BnB- I had made a phone call as soon as we got to the Air BnB hoping for a reservation, the gentlemen on the phone was extremely friendly, professional, and accommodatable even with very short notice, and as busy as it was, when we had walked in the establishment. It was only a one evening stay before we continued our travels, so we figured we would grab something for the next afternoon to reheat and eat quickly before getting back on the road. My partner, and I decided on the Venison Ragu Pasta. When it was brought to our table packed nicely to go, finished up our bottle of wine and paid our bill, immediately when we got back to the Airbnb, we took a bite because we couldn’t resist to try and ended up finishing the entire thing that evening.. highly recommend checking out KB Food! Also love the fact that they are supporting farm to table! Five...
