Unpretentious Comfort Pub food Done right The proof-- is in the pudding! I had not one... but two! First, the Yorkie: Yorkshire pudding (Steak with Guinness beer of course). Light and crisp almost flaky yet chewy at the bottom then gooey with the Guiness beer gravy. Anyone can get a good steak but in all matters of cookery- get the right ingredients but if the cooking technique is poor you might as well have not invested in quality ingredients. All boxes checked on this one perfect Yorkie and proper steak and gravy - homemade quality. Then the Sticky toffee pudding. Hesitant on this one at first- no pictures on a spartan dessert menu. Not sure how puddings are named but this has a wonderful sponge moist base not the dry or dense sticky buns or puddings whatever others may call theirs. Fionn's served a warm super soft and moist one blanketed in toffee sauce with vanilla ice cream chillin' on the side. Warm ambiance beautiful interiors and lighting. Wood and warm tones but not stuffy. Spacious bar area with unique lounge set up long wood communal style tables. Lots of screens on sports in the right places not annoyingly huge screens. The atmosphere alone encourages a warm cozy space to interact yet still keep your privacy as you choose. And the service : attentive just to the right degree- not in your face. Perfect timing to check on you and service time appropriate: not speedy nor a long wait: no complaints here. I want proper food then I am willing to give them the right amount of time to serve me food that is done right. Maybe there are some fast items for quick bites and a beer or two for sure. Bri- Anna the bar manager was great serving the lounge with another crew. And as expected different kinds of beers on draught and creative cocktails worth a try. We may not be a food mecca as Montreal is where even pubfood is way elevated at times even better than some high end restaurants we have here ( the block long lined up Montreal's Les 3 Brasseurs served great grubs even steaks and a phenomenal microbrewery) but we are indeed heading in the right direction. Fionn MacCool True to its name a cool place to discover with equally great food and service. Trivia Night Wednesdays on March starts registration soon. Definitely worth checking out. I bet my nephew could beat me to it, which would make it funnier. šŸ˜‚

Apr/25 Wow, no response at all from mgmt after a week, which relates to this restaurant's poor experience. Most everything was quite disappointing for this newly re-opened restaurant. When we were seated near the bar, I could immediately smell old fryer oil, which didn't make sense because the restaurant hadn't been open that long. My cocktail (Amaretto Sour) was all sweet and no sour with not enough froth, it was terrible and I couldn't finish it. There was an off smell to it as well when I brought the glass up to sip it, like the ice was made with old swamp water. After ordering our food, we asked for glasses of water, then had to ask her again after seeing her roam the restaurant without bringing them - weĀ  got them 20 minutes after asking. The place was not at all full or that busy with over 1/2 of the tables unoccupied! We had to wait over 1/2 hour for our food & asked about it twice. We had told our server at the beginning we had an event to get to, so time mattered. When it did come, my meal (stacked fried chicken) was awful! The previously mentioned old oil smell was revealed with my chicken, which was quite dark in colour & tasted bland with too much crispy breading. The fries were just ok. Certainly not worth the $21 they charged for this meal (especially because I could barely eat 1/2 of it due to it's off-putting taste). Our server was quite pleasant & sweet, but didn't do a good job of serving us with having to ask after her for things, which was made more difficult with her absence. All in all, a very unpleasant experience and a waste of my money.

Looked amazing but was utterly disappointed. First time for chicken week. Tried the burger. I really liked the atmosphere old pub style. Junk and chairs piled beside bar seems sloppy for a nice place. Seemed short staff or unorganized, waited 5 min at door, once we got a waitress she was very pleasant but had too many table for quality service. The special chicken burger was Guinness battered. One bite I felt like I drank a Guinness. Probably a love it or hate it. I definitely would have watered that mix down half. Cesar salad had yellowing kale and black and brown lettuce pieces, Bun and Bacon were good. And the crunch of the batter was perfect. Would love to try a regular Chicken burger next visit. Very low lighting might hide poor quality plus the stale croutons. Disappointing, Good Chefs will check quality. This place IMO could do way better with new or better management. Monday visit and this disappointing. Recommend Owner make some adjustments. Will try again to update any improvements in 6 months.

I’m very mixed on my experience today. Went for drinks on the patio, first round came quickly and then about 5 mins after that was given the happy hour menu by another server helping ours out which convinced us to try out a couple of the appies. We waited for at least 20 mins for someone to come back (drinks were empty). Finally he came back and we asked to change to inside to order our apps as the wind was a little intense and Dusty (not the restaurants issue, Mother Nature had her own ideas today). He told us not a problem just hang on a few mins and he’d take us inside. He went to serve another table. Came back and took us inside to a great table with an awesome view of the bar & TVs just in time for the Jets game set to begin. We ordered new drinks and the Calamari & wings, he then made a comment saying he wasn’t sure if he’d still be able to get the happy hour. My husband and I looked at each other like what? We were given the menu and never an opportunity to order from from it?He went to punch it in and came back saying the happy hour was closed but he could still get it for us if we wanted. We misunderstood this and thought we were still getting happy hour price on this order. As I said we sat forever unable to order from the time we were provided the menu. He made our drinks (mine had lipstick all over the glass) and he must have been frazzled because he kept wiping his head and hair with his hands then proceeded to make my drink ( touching the fruit, etc). I took it back to the bar and another gentle asked if he could help me and I explained what happened , the had the other bartender remake my drink. It was great, a little sweet for me but none the less hit the spot. I recommend trying their white sangria. The calamari & wings came (took about half an hour), the food was great! Calamari is strips, not your usual rings. They do use banana peppers instead of the usual jalapeƱos but the banana pepper do get a little dry/over crispy so you don’t get the nice spicy vinegary flavour. The wings were large and tender (not tough like most places that use the jumbo wings). In the end when we got our bill sure enough the food was not charged at happy hour price , which confirmed we had misunderstood what the server said to us. I commented that it was supposed to be HH printing to the person that brought our bill but we weren’t about to buy him to get the discount. I just think they need to be more clear, add the HH times to their menus and at least give people the opportunity to place an order if you are going to give them HH menus. All in all the atmosphere there is great, the servers really are very nice people, I believe trying hard but cleanliness and clarity would be much appreciated by...

Delivery for 1 person by Uber Eats. 1 order of Mini Yorkies and 1 order of Pubs Power Bowl cost: Subtotal: CA$33.95 Total 45.07 Appetizers Mini Yorkies Four mini Yorkshire pudding bowls, ground beef, green peas, corn, carrot, mashed potato, green onion and beef gravy.

stuffing was mostly potato and about 1/2 tsp of meat under the mashed potato. I counted 1 piece of corn and 2 peas with little ground beef in one mini. It tasted like a high fat regular ground meat. it could have been the gravy that was dropped at the bottom before everything else was put on top so it could be the gravy at fault here. the Yorkies turned into a fat sponge and made the Yorkies taste mostly of animal fat not good at all. I had only one and could not eat the rest. I will not be ordering this again. still have really bad after taste of animal fat and its been well over an hour

Salads & Bowls Pubs Power Bowl Grilled chicken breast, garlic and tamari, kale, carrot, red beet, jasmine rice, cashew ginger dressing, cilantro and sesame seeds.

The dish was mostly filled with jasmine rice at the bottom and julienne cut beet and carrot on top with 1 small fork full of kale in the mix with very little garlic and tamari (Japanese soy sauce). the chicken had its own compartment. all of it looked inviting. The carrots and beets tasted fresh with the cashew ginger dressing. But this dish had problems to sadly.

I had no cilantro and sesame seeds for some reason. the biggest problem with this dish was the chicken very small portion of chicken about the size of 2 pieces of mc nuggets.

I am sorry but even in our covid moment there is No way this has value for the money I hope this was just one time thing I have had this food before and it was much, much better the first time I tried it. I got to say I wont be ordering from here again anyway just because its far to expansive covid or not and far to much inconsistency from the first meal compare...
