Santa Lucia Pizza Henderson — Restaurant in Winnipeg

I decided give the establishment another chance. 4 weeks ago I bit the bullet and ordered my usual custom pizza (Gluten Free) with my favourable toppings.

It was good. Cooked well and all toppings present.

Fast forward to June 17 - i again ordered my usual, taking advantage if the BOGO pizza offer. This time was good as well - a little dark/maybe burnt on the toppings but still very good.

I’m glad I gave this place another chance. I think it’s only fair to update accordingly

It’s a tradition of mine to Order bi-weekly every Friday and has been from Pizza Hotline sourced from Concordia. Pizzas there are well priced and good. Lately I was on the Santa Lucia Train (originally from St Mary’s Location) but last two orders have been sub-par and expensive.

Due to the Covid and life being erratic and inconsistent, I said “Let’s break tradition and order Pizza” so I did from Santa Lucia and not Pizza Hotline (my gut).

The pizza arrived within 60 minutes and the delivery driver was friendly enough. Two pizzas were ordered, a 15” Santa Lucia Special Thick and a Gluten Free custom one.

The Gluten Free one had numerous (paid for) added toppings and I suspect they weren’t all there. The crust was hard and burnt and just a mess of tasteless rock flavour. Super disappointed. The bill with tax and tip was shy of $60.00. Was not worth the cost. Next continuation May be from Pizza Hotline exclusively. A one off is understandable but two from one specific location in comparison to another is not.

I commend the workers during this time but am disappointed...

It was a hot day and I walked in to grab a couple can drinks which they sell on the menu that I was handed, the first woman who came out was polite and ready to sell me the drinks but had to excuse herself for a phone call, an older man with a black shirt came out from kitchen with attitude I had trouble understanding him and had politely asked him to repeat himself which only agitated him further, I was going to order a small pizza along with the drinks thinking I had enough time but quickly changed my mind only seconds after telling him I was going to get a pizza because I had to leave (someone was waiting for me outside) no hassle to them as they had not even began the order in any way. The man waved his hand dismissively at me and said No, outright refused to sell me a few can drinks which the woman previously was fine with selling to me. So I said no problem and left. Santa Lucia Pizza on Henderson Highway has become a go-to favorite for us at work — and for good reason. We regularly order their pizza for delivery at the office, and every single time, it’s a hit with the whole team.

If you’re craving high-quality, satisfying pizza with no shortcuts taken, Santa Lucia on Henderson is where it’s at. It’s hands-down some of the best pizza in Winnipeg — and we’ll keep coming...
