It's burger week, and Thirsty Lion brought a burger, between deep fried mac and cheese. You can grip it if you want the classic satisfaction of preparing to unhinge your jaw and taking a bite of ths solid, massive, true to photo (unlike certain places, my dig at Kyu Bistro experience, tch...), burger. It was delicious, the burger was satisfying in all ways burger patties should be, generously portioned, juicy, and flavourful, and for me, not too salty. The mac and cheese tasted real xD, so overall a great experience!
The onion rings qere not too greasy and still crunchy! The poutine was a mistaken order, though not taken for granted, as they let us keep it, and it wasn't too bad, but like all poutine faults for me, the cheese curds wasn't it (But only because I had the best cheese curds from Montréal, and I could not be satisfied since, will not deduct stars, as they were still delicious and the gravy was great), and gave us our order of delicious kettle chips, nice and simple, with pretty great sauce.
The service was super awesome, the ladies were very attentive and prompt! And as previously noted, Google should really allow for 0.5 reviews... like I don't want to take a whole point off because of this place's weird "Sit yourself".... What is that? How would they know that a person just sat? And how long they could have been waiting for? I understand if it's the seats right along the bartender, but how about a busy dining room?
So, true review. I would give this place 4.5, took off points because of something I'm not used to and made me...
Read moreIf you have big feet, don't sit in the booths! Both mine and my friend's feet got stuck between the table support and the booth and had to be pulled out by someone else.
Service was okay, but the menu is confusing to say the least. There are random Irish, Scottish and Union flags all over the place on the menu, which seem to indicate something Irish or Scottish or British about the food, when it has nothing to do with it. There's a "Kilted Chicken Burger" with a Scottish flag next to it for example, but nothing about the food is in any way related to Scotland. The Irish nachos are at least made with potatoes, and are quite good. Menu is also very unfocused, with some proper British, Scottish and Irish pub food, next to "Greek pizza" and Fettuccini Alfredo. Focus on one geographic region at least.
A few of my chicken tenders were overcooked and dry, and my fries that came with it were cold and bland. The tartar sauce seemed to just be mayo and vinegar, no capers at all. Greek pizza had a soggy crust.
All of the beers at the table (different types) had some sort of off flavour which would indicate their beer lines aren't cleaned often or well enough.
I will say though that the ale & cheese dip with artichokes and garlic flatbread was absolutely amazing! I also really like the decor, it definitely has a English...
Read moreWe were a party of 5, going for the wing special. We sat at a table and it was 10 minutes before we were approached. The waitress cleared the table but said she would have to come back to wipe the table. 10 minutes later she hadn't returned so I got up and wiped the liquid off the table in front of our guests. 10 minutes after that, a busboy came out to wipe the table. He never wiped the table in front of me or my friend across from me. He only wiped the areas that were pointed out to him. We waited at least 25 minutes for our order to be taken and another 20 or 30 minutes to recieve our order. Two orders of wing orders had to be sent back as they were very over seasoned and way too salty. They replaced the 2 orders and one was fine and the other was still over salty. We didn't pay for the one order as I said we wouldn't. The other food was good and the pork bites were tasty but some of the flavors were mixed up and some wings had very little seasoning. The atmosphere, and the vibe in the lounge was very pleasing. The menu looks great. We saw someone receive their burger order and it looked delicious. Very disappointed, as I organized the...
