After finishing a morning live lecture and song performance on March 23, 2019, the participants and I had lunch here. I had good interactions with the guests and sponsors sitting within my reach. I shared with them how I got some big data and did my own analytics by writing reviews and inserting photos that appealed to people’s taste buds! Postscript 1 Upon invitation, I came here again on June 10, 2019. Again the food and service were very good. Perhaps, I should come here with my family before long! Postscript 2 On 20 Oct, 2022, I came here again with other Council Members for a working luncheon with the President of HKUST and her colleagues. We got a cosy room good for three tables of guests. Apart from the excellent food and service, we shared our HKUST 3.0 vision. Right now, only the privileged HKUST students, staff and their guests could frequent this restaurant. But it will reopen to the public soon!

A variety of food choices offered by maxims. The price is reasonable, not too expensive. We, 3 people have ordered 3 dim sums, 1 fried rice and 1 dessert, about $150. Remember there is a 10% service charge. The restaurant is quite empty since the outbreak or virus is happening. One more fun facts is that the restaurant is famous for its coffee pudding, which is in black and white stripes 😊

A well-lighted and clean Chinese restaurant with high-quality food and great service. The dim sum dishes are amazing and the a la carte cuisines are appropriately-seasoned and prepared. My family has had the CNY eve dinners there for many years. Always a beautiful experience and memory.

Great Chinese food they’ve got here! For the food, the rice is OK, but others are very good. The BBQ Honey Pork is marinated very well, with lots of honey flavour, but still has the Pork flavour. The Deep Fried Pork Rib with Sweet and Sour Sauce is very good, the sauce is not too sour, not too sweet, the Pork is OK, the vegetables are great, although most other restaurants have pineapples mixed with the Pork, but this has not. The Stir-fried Beef Pieces with Leek and Garlic is very great also, the sauce is not too salty (but not too un-salty) and has lots of Garlic, Leek and Beef flavours. The interior design here is not bad, but has not got that much Chinese feel in it before it renovated. They used mostly marble (a kind of stone) for the walls here, sometimes some cushions and some dark oak wood (which has already got not much Chinese feel), mostly carpet and marble for the floor (which, the same, has not much Chinese feeling) and marble (again!), western style hang lamps for the ceiling. Overall, I think this is a good restaurant. Out of 100%: Interior 30%, Food 60%,...

China Gardens is a good Chinese cuisine restaurant. The environment of the restaurant is excellent, it's not too packed. Staff attitude is substantial with most staff having an enthusiastic attitude and are very willing to help. There is a large range of food choices that are suitable for a variety of age groups. The food is high quality and is tasty. Overall, this is an excellent restaurant and I whole-heartedly recommend everyone to try this HKUST restaurant. It's not just a canteen, it's actually a cheap version of Jade Gardens but the quality is similar or...
