Wowdon blew up on social media for its signature flat udon, and unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. First, they only begin serving the flat udon from 5:30 pm until they sell out, so not only must you line up outside for the noodles, but you will not be seated before 5:30 if you want to order the flat udon. At the dame time, they aren't especially busy on most weekdays before 7 pm anyways, so you don't actually have to line up for it, making the ordeal pointless. Second, the flat udon is served with multiple choices of sauces, including seasame dressing and curry. However, the curry is hot while the noodles are cold, which causes a bit of mismatch and takes away from the innately simple and smooth loveliness of the noodles. On the other hand, their regular udon dishes show a great spread of different flavours, and the chewy, slippery texture is to die for. Service is not too great. Food: The food here is truly exceptional. I’ve never come across flat udon in Hong Kong before, and it was such a pleasant surprise to see this unique option on the menu. I tried the Kimchi Pork Udon, and it was fantastic. The udon itself had a wonderfully chewy and bouncy texture, and the pork cutlet stayed impressively crispy despite being served in a big hot pot. Every bite was a delight!

Service: The service was great—very friendly and attentive. One small suggestion would be for the waitstaff to introduce the best way to enjoy the flat udon to all customers. I overheard another table being given this tip (apparently, dipping the udon in curry first is the best way to enjoy it), and I think it would enhance the experience if everyone got to hear this advice.

Expect a 30-40 minute wait during lunch hour. The restaurant serves Japanese udon with Korean influences. Very interesting that they offer various types of udon, which is uncommon.

The physical menu has no prices and you have to check it on the ordering website. I found this a bit inconvenient. I ordered the cold dipping zaru udon set and my friend got the tempura bukkake set. I thought the udon from my friend's set was better and chewier. The sesame dipping sauce for mine was fantastic.

Overall, I think it's a good addition to the udon scene in HK, maybe just make some minor improvements. Hope they get big...
