The Beer Shack — Restaurant in Islands District

Love the Beer Shack. They have such a wonderful ever-changing craft beer menu. There's always something new and unique to try, and Joseph behind the bar can always help guide you through the beers and make recommendations, or give samples if you're on the fence about a brew. There is also a wide selection of locally crafted kombucha with unique and fruity flavors. Then there's the food - always on point. The menu is carefully thought out and perfectly crafted each time. Lauren and Maria are incredible at getting the food out quickly and deliciously. They are both super knowledgeable about menu items and can make helpful recommendations to deliver you a delicious experience. I recommend the farmer's board, but I've heard good things about the Mac n Cheese too. The Shack also offer some old-school NES gaming on a projector, plus plenty of fun board- and card games. Stopped in for lunch, ordered the mushroom wrap and fries.

The fries were very good but the wrap had chicken in it (they got the order wrong). I’m vegetarian so it was rather unpleasant to realize the mistake on my first bite.

They replaced the wrap with the veggie one and said sorry, but that was about it… they could have done more. The veggie wrap didn’t have much flavour anyways. I wouldn’t come back here, though there didn’t seem to be very many other western restaurant...

After a long hike around Lamma, I made my intended destination and was not disappointed!! Fantastic beer, awesome food and an interesting and eclectic group of folks in the bar. Got to meet the owner and his family and a great bunch of nice people, JoJo the cook makes some mean brisket and the mac and cheese is melt in your mouth.
