I have been visiting Shanghai for last 2 years now but hitherto stayed around People’s Square area. On this visit, I am staying around Cohejing Hi-Tech Park so had to discover new Indian restaurants closer to me. After a bit of research, I found good reviews for Indian Kitchen. I thought I must give it a shot. Walked around 50 minutes to reach here and never regretted. I had not found South Indian food in Shanghai before (including a deceptively named place called Dakshin) so when I opened the menu, I did not believe my eyes. Indian Kitchen has Idli, Vada, Rasam, Dosas, Rasam, you name it! These all in addition to curries and Indo-Chinese. Food was extremely delicious; in fact, I enjoyed the spice level of sambar even more than Saravana Bhavan in London. I am so glad I found this place. Have added some photos of the menu below.

After reading a lot of the reviews a friend and I decided to check this place out considering we were staying at the Hongqiao state guest hotel down the road. Being Indian/punjabi myself and a keen foodie I found the place on a nice hidden alleyway full of restaurants. It was the last restaurant at the back end of the alley. The food was very average, maybe a little spicy for most and found the vegetarian paneer tikka masala quite oily. The naan was a little dissappointing compared to other cheaper establishments I’ve been to however the service was very good with polite waiters. Like others, i found this place over priced for the quality of food they served. If you’re looking for Indian food this place should somewhat satisfy your needs.

We ordered 2 chicken curry sets and the food was great. We would appreciate if naan would come at the same time with food and make sure the actual chicken is well cooked, not semi-raw

If you're craving authentic Indian food in Shanghai, look no further than this exceptional restaurant. Whether you're a fan of vegetarian or non-vegetarian dishes, the flavors here are just as good as what you'd find in India. The ambience is inviting and adds to the overall dining experience, making it a perfect spot for a meal with friends or family.

The service is outstanding, thanks in large part to Murali, an Indian staff member who provided excellent guidance on different food options and ensured our dining experience was top-notch. His knowledge and hospitality truly enhanced our visit.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Indian cuisine...
