Mariana's Beach — Restaurant in Cartagena

CUIDADO! UNSAFE! INSEGURO! Employee(s) hired to watch your stuff actually steals as soon as you turn your back! We had 30 mins of rest before the nightmare of our stolen bag...wallet, phone, cash, clothes, sunglasses, hats...all stolen in 3-5 minutes!!!

Very coordinated: employee sitting watching us and our stuff calls a friend (beach peddler or guy on motorcycle), at the right moment grabs our bag and throws it over the short fence, friend picks it up...done.

He probably thought we were going to swim but we were just checking the water temp so we turned right back around and saw staff by our chairs (thought it was our food being delivered) and then the friend makes an escape...before we realized what happened. Police confirmed it's been a reoccurring problem at Mariana's even though she tried to downplay it by saying it happens everywhere.

Wait until Marina fires the thief or thieves (not sure if this guy acted alone or if others turned a blind eye) and adds better security before thinking about this place. In fact due to inside nature involving coordination between employee(s) and beach peddlers, avoid all properties on...

We went there twice and ordered the same food - mojara entera, the chicken and their vegetable salad. The juices were fresh and the service was top notch. They also allowed us to bring our dog and relax under the shadow of the palm trees in their beach club setting, which was very kind of them and we appreciated it a lot.

Views are spectacular, but you will also see 200 motorcycles speeding on the beach in front of you and even sometimes honking at the tourist. Definitely not my ideal of a relaxing beach. If you want to relax go to Cancun or Varadero or Cayo Coco..... I feel the hostile motorcycles honking at you make coming to isla bomba...
