After watching a few customer videos about this restaurant, I decided to go and see all this goodness for myself. Let me tell you, every single aspect is true! Food is very good and plenty and the prices are very, very, accommodating. There is just one item in the menu, which is the bandeja Paisa, the traditional platter for the people of Antioquia. The full meal includes an appetizer, a bean soup and the main plate, accompanied by a local drink. Additionally, they will offer you a couple of shots of Aguardiente, to help your digestion. The meal is so plentiful that 2 people can easily eat and be satisfied. The service is fast, cordial and welcoming, normal behavior for the people of this Department (State) in Colombia. Recommend you arrive "hungry" at the restaurant, otherwise you'll have to ask the waitress to pack the leftovers to take home with you. I was very impressed and satisfied with the quality & quantity of the food served at "La Gloria de Gloria" and wouldn't hesitate to come back and take my...
Read moreHuge portion of typical Bandaje Paisa. Giant chicharrón, chorizo, blood sausage, powdered beef, bowl of bean soup with pork hock, fried egg, fried plantain, rice, french fries, avocado and salad. We got 3 portions for the 5 of us and it was still too much. It was 180,000 COP for 3 plates and 2 beer each.
Gloria herself came out and greeted us with a free shot of AguaArdiente. We got a total of 4 free shots of AguaArdiente each!
We thought the chicharrón was over cooked as the skin was hard as rock and the meat charcoal like. We were thinking this might be because they were re-cooked from lunch as we went for dinner around 7pm and there was hardly anyone there and this is generally a lunch place.
The bean soup was the best part and was delicious. It had one of the better blood sausages I have had, but it's not my favorite. The fench fries and salad were good, everything...
Read moreThe bandeja paisa (with 1kg of chicharrón!) is for 2 people and it comes with a small dish of morcilla with arepa, plus a beans and meat soup. The whole pack is 81k COP. I'm not sure if there are any other options since there is no menu or anything, and everyone just seems to order the bandeja paisa.
I think it's quite expensive since you can find better bandejas for much lower prices (a bandeja that is basically not just chicharrón), but the quality of the chicharrón was really good anyway. All in all the place is recommendable since it seems to be quite popular even among locals, but I think it may be overhyped.
We managed to sit down immediately but we were lucky, the queue afterwards was very long. The staff is amazing, the manager of the place is one of the most lovely people ever! Everyone is efficient at their job and they are super...
