After researching the top places in Popayan this place seemed promising. We came expecting some trully great cooking. In the evening you can order pasta, lasagna or dish from an evening menu or just order some classic spanish tapas. The tapas are ok but quite pricey and a single small tapa can cost the same as an evening meal. The evening menu has 5 choices but not all of them are available. We've ordered Mediterranean beef and lasagna. Sadly the beef was just OK and lacked flavor. The steamed vegetables were overcooked and had no crunch at all. The lasagna caught me offguard because its a white sauce lasagna without any tomatos. It was ok but nothing to write home about. Overall we left disappointed as we were hoping for something special. The atmosphere is nice, the place is quite small just 4-5 tables. The owners are indeed nice people and the service is good (Just please dont serve beer as an unopened can. Pour the beer...
Read moreThe owner, Fernando, came from Barcelona several years ago. Food at this restaurant is excellent! They advertise a "taste" of the Mediterranean, and after eating here on several occasions, I can confirm that it is truly as advertised! The daily menu generally has a chicken, beef or pork selection as well as a vegetarian option. The first course is soup, served with a large glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice. The meat entree is served with wonderfully prepared mixed vegetables, a pasta or rice, a few fried potatoes and a fresh salad. This is a great balanced meal. The dessert on the daily menu was home made strawberry ice cream served with a small portion of cake or brownie and is served with tea or coffee. Undescribably delicious! Great service! Again wonderful food! Owners Fernando and Stella speak very good English and are very accommodating to all of...
Read moreTasty, good-quality Mediterranean fare at a good price.
The menu is very wide, with a large range of tapas, pizza and pasta. Desserts are either crepes, or freshly made cakes, presented in a chiller cabinet.
The mains are excellent. I have tried both the lasagna and the calzone, and both were very enjoyable. The lasagna is perhaps not the most typical, it having curious spicing and being chicken, but it is nonetheless enjoyable. The calzone is great.
The desserts are a little weaker, honestly, potentially not quite being worth it, however no obvious alternatives avail themselves.
The staff are lovely, and the restaurant has a nice,...
