Wine’s Sacristy — Restaurant in Popayán

From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a homely yet elegant space. We were instantly made to feel welcome and at ease.

The food was incredible. We tried 9 different dishes and they were each amazing (the garlic mushrooms, artichokes, chickpeas with ham, stuffed peppers, patatas braves, chistorra sausages, grilled sea bass, seafood paella, steak medallones). The owner/chef Ignacio is so talented. Each dish was 5 star and did not disappoint, the quality of the ingredients was evident. It was the best seafood paella we have ever had in our lives.

The service was excellent too. Wonderful atmosphere, good music, lovely decor.

For dessert the chef recommended we order the vanilla ice cream, saying it was the best we would ever have. After a whole meal in his hands we trusted Ignacio wholeheartedly and we were not disappointed!! I'm not one to usually choose vanilla ice cream but it was amazing. We also had a pistachio dessert which was excellent.

We were a group of 6 people with various dietary needs (gluten free, dairy free, peanut allergy, vegetarian) but this posed no problem and was dealt with really attentively in a way we have never seen before.

Es un lugar SOBREVALORADO que guarda apariencias pues su popularidad no se evidencia en el ambiente, la comida y el servicio. Lastimosamente apenas entré la atención fue deficiente pues las meseras tuvieron una actitud prepotente y grosera, se demoraron en asignarnos una mesa para sentarnos. Pedi tapas, pues me parece super básico de la carta en un restaurante español y solo es un plato para pedir los miercoles, absurdo. Luego pedi pato y pasados 30 minutos me dijeron que no tenían mientras que a mi compañero ya le estaban sirviendo y me toco cambiar en último momento por pulpo que esta a sobrepasado en condimentos y pasado de cocción pues estaba duro. El lugar también es bastante feo; todo es falso, las velas son falsas y las plantas son falsas. No recomiendo este lugar pues los precios no se justifican con los productos ni...

Una muy grata sorpresa. Tan bueno estuvo que no estuve muy pendiente de tomarle foto a cada plato. Es atendido por su dueño, un español de lo más majo, cordial, dispuesto y conversador. El resto del staff muy amable también. El lugar es lindo, bien ambientado y tranquilo, ideal para un rato ameno. La comida deliciosa, pedimos al centro patatas bravas, pulpo a la gallega, tortilla española y mejillones. Las patatas bravas muy ricas, te preguntan qué tan bravas las quieres pero creo que les hizo falta su aliolí, la tortilla en su punto, el pulpo a la gallega 1a, super recomendando. Pedimos también una botella de vino y 5 cervezas.
