Amici Santa Teresa — Restaurant in Cóbano

Can’t say enough how disappointed I am in Amici tonight on New Years. Knowing that it is a busy night, I still felt the need to leave a review based off of our experience. We went into the night expecting things to be delayed but what happened here was just a sad sad way to end our vacation and start our new years night. We arrived around 8:15 and were promptly seated. Things were off to a good start as we quickly got our first drinks. We quickly ordered Arancini and two pizzas and asked for the starter to come out first. Things went downhill quickly, as after we received our Arancini we received literally no service at all. We tried to make eye contact and wave down any waitress to get more water and drink and it was like we were invisible. Finally after an hour and a half I got up and went to where the waitresses were and pizza was being made to see if our order was still coming out and to receive service. We were told that they were sorry and our pizzas never got ordered to the kitchen..We literally waited over an hour and a half patiently, to try and be respectful knowing what night it was. When we were told that our pizzas never made it, we asked for the bill. The waitress said she would discount it and for our 2 drinks and appetizers with the “discount” it was still $30. Fabulous place , great and authentic food , good service and great ambience.

When it was time to receive our bill we were presented with a very awkward situation. Our waitress, that was lovely throughout the night, asked whether we wanted to add tips, when we asked what was then the 10% service charge, she was unable to explain.

She kind of explain the service charge don’t go fully to them. It was very strange to charge for service and ask for more ? Perhaps raise the service to 15 or 20% and distribute more to avoid the guest feeling bad and responsible to take care of staff ? Or remove it all together so is discretionary ? ( we would have tip more anyway ) or just simply don’t ask to pay more of what you already charging and leave it to the discretion of the guest ? again if tips are discretionary you should never ask , you’ll surely get more by asking and putting your guest in difficult position, but you might not see them back ?

This situations destroy the good work of your kitchens and front of house teams.

People come back when they have a great experience and is fairly priced ( not cheap but fair) . Our experience was fantastic , but it wasn’t fair to us.

Is petty money but I’m sure I’m not the first to feel this way , hope this helps ! And I hope to come...

This little gem in Santa serves well composed dishes with high quality ingredients, perfect for sharing in a welcoming and cheerful atmosphere. If you leave without trying their pizzas you are absolutely missing out! I had the one called Sole and it was crazy good. Only thing is that their pizzas makes you crave for having it again.. and again..

The place is perfect for dinner and the owners are super friendly. You can easily spend the whole night here staying for drinks at their separate cocktail bar Terrazza. It’s urban but cozy with high palm trees and a terrace, and the cocktails are really tasty and actually super cheap compared to other places. They have DJs and events so make sure to check their insta for updated info.

Definitely one of the best places in town so you won’t regret going here...
