I have been coming to Santa Teresa for 4 years. I do love Rocamar. If you're visiting for the first time, you have to eat here. the tacos are great, they have the best yucca fries in town. Owned by Tom Brady's personal chef, the food is top tier, however the prices have gotten a little out of hand but I think that's just a Santa Teresa thing. The location is unbeatable. It's a great location to watch the sunsets from. But my god, the service is ATROCIOUS. The servers are nice. They are super friendly. And no, it's not a language barrier. It's also not that the restaurant gets very busy. The service is just bad. It's so slow, the servers are typically congregating by the front talking to one another, they are pretty forgetful when it comes to asking for simple things like ketchup, napkins, utensils, etc. Once it comes to the point that you need to order 2 drinks at a time because service is really just that slow (when there's only 5 tables total), I mean, there just needs to be better training in place or something. I still love Rocamar, and like I said, I recommend it, just the staff needs to be a little bit better trained on attentiveness and...

Restaurant Review: A Mixed Experience by the Beach

I recently visited a beachfront restaurant with stunning views, hoping for a memorable dining experience. The location is undoubtedly a highlight, offering breathtaking scenery that adds a unique charm to the place.

The service started off friendly and attentive, which made a positive first impression. However, the experience took a turn when we received the bill. The waitress asked if we wanted to add a tip, despite the menu clearly stating that a 10% service charge was already included. This left me feeling confused and slightly uncomfortable, as it seemed unnecessary to pay twice for the same service.

As for the food, it was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the high prices. The flavors were underwhelming, and the dishes lacked the quality you’d expect for the cost. On a brighter note, the cocktails were delicious and well-prepared, which partially redeemed the experience.

Overall, while the location and drinks were fantastic, the food and awkward tipping situation left much to be desired. It’s a great spot for a drink by the sea, but I wouldn’t recommend it for...

Saw a few mixed reviews but my experience was very positive. I arrived at around 5 on a weekday and there were a few people there but it wasn’t too busy.

The place itself has a great atmosphere. Practically on the beach surrounded by greenery and very relaxed.

The staff were a highlight, service was quick and very friendly. They went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed and that everything was okay. They spoke both English and Spanish with ease.

The food was great. The fish tacos were amongst the best I’ve had and the yucca fries were new for me but delicious. I had the Alfajor ice cream sandwich to finish off and it was really lovely.

Definitely recommend checking it out. Great place to watch the sunset with some great food and I imagine it would be a fun place to have a relaxed lunch...

Recommended for lunch by our hotel. Lovely spot by the beach. Plenty of seating with lots of shade amongst the trees. Really relaxed vibe. Highlights: -Super friendly servers -Fish tacos - these were delicious! -Guacamole with tortilla crisps was fresh and a little bit more special with fresh coriander and pumpkin seeds with a bit of chopped chilli -Green glow smoothie was very refreshing The orange cake was tasty although a little dense and the chicken adobo tacos didn't taste much like adobo (had my Filipino partner with me to confirm this!). They were good though.

Ordered the burger which came cold (the cheese hadn't even melted) and half the chips were cold too so they probably used half of an old batch semi warmed up. They did offer to redo the burger which took 20 minutes but then the next one was inedible as the bun was burnt, see picture. In the end I just gave up and decided to go home to eat. They did offer a free drink which was nice. However, note they charge for tap water which we thought was a little odd.

Rocamar definitely lives up to the hype as one of the best spots for the sunset in Costa Rica. Good food, drinks and music makes it a great evening vibe. Also very family friendly The only reason for it not being a 5 star was the staff felt quite pushy when it came to deciding on what we wanted to order. Also encouraging tips at the end which, as a European, is still a bit alien considering we only ordered a few beers and some snacks to share
