My friends and I visit this soda every year that we come to Santa Teresa and have always been pleased, but this time around I can honestly say we will not be returning. We decided to order the grilled fish with salad and vegetables since it sounded like a healthy option. The fish came out mushy, breaded and pan fried. We double checked the menus to make sure it said “grilled” in English. Our server spoke clear English which was a relief because unfortunately we speak little Spanish, so we asked him if that was what they considered grilled. He replied, “umm I don’t know, what do you consider grilled?“ and I said “cooking food over a fire, like a grilled steak or burger with no breading” and he said “ohh no you won’t find that anywhere in Latin America”... This was one of the most ridiculous statements because we have had grilled fish at this soda the previous year, and at a few sodas around town during this trip. This place is usually a good spot to eat and I know the food can be delicious but our service was absolutely terrible and our server was to blame. We are all young, we all have and still do work in the restaurant industry back home. Being as we are all from a tourist based beach economy in the U.S. we know and understand the importance of tourism and the services that go along with it, and hopefully soon that server will understand the importance of it too. PS... we asked about a drink special called la tiquicia on the special board and he said he had never seen, heard, or knew what this meant....the restaurant is called...
Read moreMy girlfriend and i ate here for lunch after we got it from the nice girl from insidercostarica recommended. It’s quite up north, so it’s in total a little bit more quiet around there. The restaurant looked from the street not special, but that’s totally fine for a typical Soda. Immediately in the inside, we recognized there were nearly only local people. The staff welcomed us friendly and showed us the menu. The menu is mostly the same regarding all Sodas, but still nice and a bunch of different meals available. The prices were, as expected and typical for Sodas, little bit lower than the average of the Santa Teresa restaurants. We chose the following dishes: Rice with chicken for me and my girlfriend gave the shrimp ceviche a shot. Both were really nice and tasted delicious. Sadly, my rice was made with coriander, which not really my taste, but was still very well made. The free wifi was also available and its password was on a sign on the wall, which is in my opinion way more comfortable than asking for it. There is also an second floor, which i recognized after i went for the men’s bathroom. Upstairs was nobody, so the restaurant in total wasn’t that full. We paid by card without extra fees. Summing up, a very nice, quite cheap and...
Read moreThe food was really good. I had the Pescado(fish) meal for dine-in and the chicken breast meal to go. The fish wasn't very flavorful but overall it was satisfactory. The portion size exceeded expectations for the price which happens to be very reasonable. The chicken breast had great flavor. I'm almost tempted to swing by for another go at it before I head back home, it's that good. The food didn't take too long although they were consistent with all tables filled. The server was very busy but remained attentive. The only thing that I did not like about this experience was the dogs walking around and going from table to table. The patron next to me was a bit uneasy about it as well but it wasn't off-putting to the degree of...
