Tierra Mar — Restaurant in Cóbano

We visited this wonderful restaurant on the final night of our stay in Mailpais. Located towards the southern tip of the town, this establishment best exemplifies everything that my family and I absolutely love about this country. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by Miley, the manger/head waitress who immediately made us feel at home. We all ordered the Casada plates, chicken as well as fish. The fish was fresh caught, just down the road at the local fishery and was cooked to taste. The portions were more than adequate and everything form the rice to the vegetables to the secret homemade sauces were equisite. Mailee is the sweetest human on the planet. She is also an incredible chef. She gets her seafood fresh twice a week because she doesn’t like to freeze it. Her arroz con camerones is to die for— particularly when combined with her home made plantain hot sauce — and I never knew I could feel so strongly about crispy paella style Gallo pinto. I stumbled upon Tierra mar for breakfast one day and it was so good I knew I had to come back. Do not come here starving, this place has 3 tables and one cook, got our food after 1 1/2 hours. The owner is kind and is also the cook, her mom makes the drinks, and I believe her dad was helping in the kitchen. Our smoothies were forgotten but she eventually remembered before the food came out, they were ok.
