Five-Star Review for Geckos Waterfall Restaurant
Geckos Waterfall Restaurant, located on the scenic road to La Fortuna waterfall, is an absolute gem that deserves every one of its five stars. Primarily a lunch spot, Geckos also offers delightful breakfast options, making it a versatile choice for any time of day.
Today, I had the pleasure of indulging in their fish tacos, accompanied by a side of perfectly crispy French fries. These weren't just any fish tacos; they featured Corvina fish, which boasts a superior quality and flavor compared to the common tilapia version. Served in soft taco style, the Corvina was tempura fried to perfection, providing a delectable crunch with every bite.
The balance of ingredients in these tacos was impeccable. Each bite melted in my mouth, with a harmonious blend of cheese, creamy avocado, and fresh onions. The highlight, however, was the Lozano sauce—a secret recipe, I suspect, rooted in popular Costa Rican marinades. This sauce elevated the tacos to a whole new level of deliciousness.
Geckos offers a diverse menu that includes burgers, wraps, and nachos, ensuring there's something for everyone. While the tacos stole the show for me, the entire menu looked enticing.
The service was nothing short of stellar—friendly, attentive, and incredibly fast. The staff made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in.
One of the standout features of Geckos is its roadside seating. From my spot, I could watch the lively action on the way to the waterfall, with stunning views of the valley, the mountains, and, of course, the majestic volcano. This setting truly adds to the restaurant's charm, making every meal here a memorable experience.
In conclusion, Geckos Waterfall Restaurant is a must-visit. With excellent food, superb service, and breathtaking views, it offers a dining experience that is both satisfying and unforgettable. Five stars...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed our Traditional Empanadas and Ceviche cooking class with Chef Scott at Gecko's Gourmet restaurant. Scott and his staff were excellent hosts and we were pleasantly surprised with all the bonuses that came with the class. First, you need something to drink with the empanadas and ceviche so we were taught how to make mohijtos the Costa Rica way. We then were given great instructions by Chef Scott to make and cook our empanadas and ceviche. The food we cooked was fantastic and we were given additional drinks like Sangria or native juices to go with our meal. Finally, we were also taught how to cook a flanbay banana dessert dish with ice cream and native chocolate to polish off our meal. Highly recommend this class if you want to make your own excellent meal with guidance from a nice person who also cares about rescuing the local stray dogs of La Fortuna. Thanks...
Read moreWhere to start? My my, what an incredible place with vibrant flavors, absolutely delightful sangria, and the kindest folks we’ve met in La Fortuna. Charlie and Scott are absolute gems. 💙 Their energy is outstanding! We arrived at Geckos before they were really even open, yet they welcomed us warmly and made us feel right at home. I was initially expecting the prices to be higher considering how close it is to the waterfall, the views and the quality of their menu… but everything was so reasonably priced and affordable! Beyond the restaurant, they have a dog rescue where they give these pups a second chance at life. Additionally, the upstairs area hosts cooking classes! The energy here is so welcoming, the true embodiment of Pura Vida. Don’t miss this wonderful...
