Batak Rudeš — Restaurant in City of Zagreb

Fantastic place. Not my first and not my last time visit. This time I took Plata for 2, meat was delicious, juicy, with that scent of smoke everybody likes when they order grilled meat. I enjoyed in every piece we got on our plate. Yup, they could put two little bowls of onions since this Plata is for 2 person, that's my biggest remark. Onions here have status like they caviar in 5 star Plaza Hotel. Oh, there is short list of craft beer menu starting from 18-19HRK. Beer came with ice cold glass. Respect! Big size "Pljeskavica" is 52HRK and you'll get a huge piece of delicious meat, very, very good value for money. "Gurmanska pljeskavica" which comes with stuffed cheese inside is little bit expensier 56HRK but it's another fantastic choice for hungry people. Side dish, most popular spring potato could be better, I think they don't use real fresh potatoes, rather frozen one, as we felt taste is more starchy then it should be. But still I give it 5 star, as here is all about good grilled meat. And lastly Lepinja! What to say? I could eat it alone. It was so puffy, not oily, little bit crunchy just marvelous. Ufff, now I am hungry again...😅

Edit 4th.Sept.2023. This was my 5th or 6th visit, still good place to eat, but somehow it feels more like 4 star then 5 star. This time we took Zagrebacki and Grilled chicken tights. In both I missed something, portions were quite good, price is around 9€. Lepinje came cold!? Thats big downgrade! Zagrebacki is stuffed chicken breast, but why they don't have veal, or maybe pork? Also I remember salad was larger... So all very good, but...

First of all, let me say that the only reason I gave 2, and not only 1 star is because our waiter was a really decent guy. He forgot to bring the soup that we ordered, but we didn't mind because the place is obviously understaffed and we could see that he was sorry. The reason for the low rating is that Batak has prices that are bordering on expensive, and food that is bordering on the low end of mediocre. Meat is generic (similar to premade minced meat you buy in stores). The worst part were our salads - one salad (rucola and cherry tomatoes) had a pinch of rucola and ONE cherry tomato; the other salad (šopska) had mostly just onions. The rucola and cherry tomatoes (with one tomato) salad cost 21 kuna, and šopska even more - and what you get for that money is a feeling you're being robbed. I only regret not leaving a tip for our waiter, but we felt so bad that we just wanted to leave as soon...

Where to start? We just fell in love with this place! When waitress came, she introduce her self by name and suggested home made aperitive which we took. For appetizer we took "vešalica with kajmak", wow was that great! For main course we had bbq chicken wings with potato and bbq sauce which was little spicy and "đevrek with kajmak" - burger filled with cheese and bacon. For desert we had cheese cake, we finished with pear spirit "viljamovka" snd coffee. All of the food was absolutely gorgeous and super tasty. We ate lots of grilled food in the past and this place is on of the best so far. Definitely we'll...
