🔴The bad:
🔹Cleaning Had a dirty table between the dishes and didn’t have it cleaned even once. Putting 2 desserts over a spilled soup is ridiculous. Didn’t want to make a scene, but when I was about to finish my drink I told me boyfriend “look, I think the glass was broken once” and when he tried to prove me it’s just a scratch, he scratched out a long women’s hair (!!!) which got stuck inside the glass, probably with the heat of the dishwasher. (Crew- You can see it in the cameras) In that point I stopped drinking from that glass.
🟡 The So-So
🔹Location takes a drive and from the outside not very inviting
🔹Atmosphere Felt a bit depressing. Maybe cause we were only two tables. The Christmas wall decorations were charming though. In general- Low energies and not any vibes.
🔹 The “Beef tartare” was too smoked. My boyfriend who eats everything mentioned how hard the taste is.
🔹The desserts were ok. We took the Carrot cake and the chocolate mousse. Nothing to write home about.
🔹The “Codfish Cabbage” dish. Skip that.
🔹Options for vegetarians. Barely any. This menu had only “Pumpkin Risotto”, “Cauliflower Soup” and “Pumpkin Soup” Hopefully you like pumpkins…
🔹When you ask us if we want a glass of water, don’t charge us 4.5€ for a bottle you decided to open without mentioning.
🔹Although dishes prices were raised up lately, I still find them kind of fair for the amount of time each dish takes to be made. Sizes were ok. Not too small.
🔹Prices of the cocktails were almost as the dishes prices. Aperol Spritz was regular. Missed taste. Limoncello Spritz was better.
🟢The good:
🔹The waiter was polite and detailed (although didn’t mentioned the Codfish dish comes with bacon while I’m a pescatarian). He did know what he was talking about when presenting the dishes.
🔹The toilets were clean
🔹My boyfriend did enjoy his well cooked “Fish Stew” dish
🔹My “Pumpkin risotto” was really nice
🔹 Every dish was well thought out
🔹1€ bread is a good offer
🟤Bottom line🟤 Nothing that has any Michelin star to do with, or that justifies 4.9 score on Google reviews… If your time in Split is limited, I wouldn’t make my reservation here. Been visiting some 1 Star Michelin restaurants before, I guess they were too generous...
Read moreWe've been in Split for just under a month and we have been mostly disappointed with our (15+) eating experiences.. until we visited Bome.
In our experience, the care and attention to detail this team have in delivering their craft is second to no other in Split. Each dish we were presented with was accompanied with a back story and every request we made was gladly accommodated (even on a busy Saturday night). Chef even took the time to proudly show us the sourdough starter he uses for the 2 of the 3 different breads on offer.
The home made pasta with beef cheek was cooked and seasoned to absolute perfection, as was the steak and paired goats cheese potato stack. Personally I could have taken a heavier hit of rosemary in the focaccia but perhaps that would have overpowered other more delicate flavours elsewhere.
We were very full after sharing 3 large dishes (we couldn't decide) so we weren't sure about dessert but I had a feeling it was going to be worth the effort. Without spoiling the surprise too much, desserts aren't quite what you expect from the descriptions on the menu.. but well worth squeezing in.
The presentation of dishes is also carefully considered, we saw several tables served with very intriguing smoke filled domes, which gave off a lovely woody/charcoal smell when set free during serving.
The whole experience from start to finish was above and beyond expectations, I truly believe this team has their sights set on a Michelin star.
If you're visitng Split old town, do yourself a favour and spend €5 on a taxi to Bome, your stomach, and wallet...
Read moreIf you like to eat and enjoy food and drink, definitely visit them. It is not a large space (about twenty places) with an open kitchen concept, it is unobtrusively decorated and leaves a pleasant impression. Three hanging copper lamps are a nice detail, there are not too many of them (an interesting wall of leaves) so as not to overwhelm the space. There is also an external part-the matter of choice. Although the kind hostess explained in detail what we were eating/how it was prepared, I only remembered that the food was delicious both to taste and to look at. I can't argue about the taste, but I can say that I'm a person who doesn't like meat, but I "killed" myself in the veal risotto. What I think about their gregada is best shown by the picture of the completely emptied "bronzin" - compliments for this way of serving this ancient dish. Desserts are also a special story and it is a waste not to try at least a little of them. It is obvious that the staff are coordinated and create their...
