I gave this hotel 3 stars because… ¶Location and price (was great), Wi-Fi on the beach, and overall enjoyment of my stay (only a few minor issues or complaints); value for the price paid; cleanliness (not perfect, sunflower seed in the bathroom, likely unwashed comforter and pillow combination on the bed -- stop using these already); courtesy of staff (never followed up with me about my broken A/C complaint -- par for the course when it comes to European hospitality I suppose, but points awarded accordingly); responsiveness to housekeeping requests (see previous remark, and I'm not even sure if they checked the A/C since it's still semi-functional (every few hours it shuts off and you have to power off and power on the unit for it to work again); condition of the hotel annex (where I stayed) is in need of an update (see pictures, and shag carpet, really?), and the odor in the hallway is something that can only be described as unfortunate; modernity of the hotel (bathroom fixtures were nice, shag carpet and pleather couch?); hotel location - right on the beach!; breakfast spread included my favorite Mueslix and had decent coffee; bathroom size was decent; real hangers in the large closets; gym was also the size of a large closet, had actual weights and equipment (rare in Europe) but looks cluttered and like it hasn't been cleaned in a while (also, broken cardio machines); number of outlets available in my room were sufficient. ¶Overall, I didn’t give this hotel 4 or 5 stars because… ¶Five stars are hard to earn and four stars require some basics that were not achieved; no hot water machine in the room; no coffee options in the room; minor nuisance items listed above; hotel still using comforters that are probably not washed regularly… enough (instead of duvet/duvet covers - which are washed regularly); towels are literally 5 years old and feel like sandpaper (there's a date on the tag, see pics - 2013) the gym was very small (four machines). ¶I would stay here again, but primarily because of the price and location. ¶WiFi password is casanova

Spent a long weekend just before the season kicked in. I must say that the hotel had really good location, directly by a beautiful beach, with a small concrete pier. Water was clear and small pebbles covered the beach. We got room on the first floor, with the sea view. While it was great, it situated just above the restaurant, so the balcony would smell like pizza or calamari sometimes, and it could get loud during dinner hours. The Deluxe Room was clean, large and modern, there’s a tiny little fridge where you could squeeze your own drinks. Didn’t watch tv, but accidentally turned it on once and saw that you can chromecast to it. Maybe good for people who wants to watch their own stuffs. The bathroom was spacious, water in the shower flowed very strong but it drained very slow, so it could flood a bit. There was a small gym, a Finnish sauna, a swimming pool with unheated water on the top floor. Breakfast was so-so, typical of 3-4 stars hotel in this part of Croatia, but you can eat it on the beach! This was kinda a big deal for us! Even though I couldn’t stand the coffee.. Beside of 3-course dinner from our half board, we ordered mussel alla Buzara with bread, and they were one of the best I ever ate! The bread was so good, it was actually pizza cuts without the sauce. They also had a very tasty fish soup. Staffs are all friendly and helpful. Overall a good hotel on a great location. It just getting old and start decaying here and there. Maybe we’ll come back someday, if it would still be in one piece. Careful when you book though, some rooms are on annex, which is located on the main road and separated from the main building, this not on the beach.

We started our stay at this hotel on a positive note, but unfortunately things quickly turned into a very unpleasant experience. One of us had an accident in the bathroom where a towel holder came off the wall when trying to hang a towel. We immediately reported this to the hotel, and at first they told us it was not our fault. However, the next day we were suddenly told we had to pay €250 for the damage (according to them, the total cost was €750). They could not provide any proof that the damage was caused by us.bAee attached pictures of documentation the hotell gave us. The worst part was that the hotel staff threatened to throw us out if we did not pay. We felt pressured and unfairly treated, so we decided to check out and refuse their unreasonable demand. Our overall impression is that the hotel did not want to listen to us, treated us unfairly, and handled the situation in a very unprofessional way.

Good Points:|The beautiful view|The friendly reception staff|Breakfast was ok - mixture of hot and cold foods, but could do with some more fresh fruit that hasn't already been cut up into a fruit cocktail.|Olive Garden next door is a lovely restaurant and they won't rip you off|The bar, less than a minute down the beech - excellent bar food and reasonable priced drinks - again won't rip you off.||Bad Points:|Booked a 'Classic Double Room' - The first room they gave us was on the first floor of the Annex - it was dark, dusty, there was a reed diffuser on a shelf that had mould in it! | The bathroom was tiny! However, the TV didn't work, so we were moved to another 'Classic Double Room', this one on the 2nd floor. Shagpile carpet, view of the road, but at least this one had a bigger bathroom.||Not once during our stay was our room cleaned. I asked at reception, on the 2nd day who advised that somewhere in our room should be a sign to hang on the door if we wanted the room cleaned. I eventually found the sign hidden in the wardrobe. This sign made no difference! During our 6 day stay - not once was it cleaned. I had to ask at Reception when I wanted new towels or toilet paper.||Do not go to the Bar/Restaurant in the hotel - they charged me €9 for a vodka and then another €4.50 for a mixer - obviously we didn't know this until we got the bill. Apparently they had been given me Grey Goose, which is their most expensive vodka, even though I hadn't asked for that - i had just asked for a vodka, so has assumed they would give me the local vodka. Food was very average, but not worth the money. Staff also asked for a tip before we had even paid! |We did not return their for the rest of our stay. There is a lovely restaurant (Olive Garden) next door, and a great bar, on the other side - all very welcoming and will not overcharge you or insist you leave a 18% tip.||The Hotel itself looked tired. It is in a beautiful location, but looking from the outside it lets the surrounding down. It needs a good scrub.||Only stay here as a last resort, but definitely do not eat or drink there. ...

First of all, this review is for the Gala Annex building which is a subpar building beside the San Antonio hotel. We arrived thinking we were in the main building but did not realize this was a separate building.

breakfast was awful, we only had a bit the first day, and we ended up throwing majority of it out as it was disgusting and awful rooms in gala annex were awful, shag carpeting which was disgusting, bathroom floors were dirty, hair in the shower and AC barely worked. hallways and rooms smelled musty and by the second day smelled of fecal/sewage smell we luckily were able to transfer/had to pay 112 euro a day for a room in the main San Antonio building for the rest of our stay. This was a good building, room was clean, sea view room and we were lucky we were even able to be upgraded as the hotel was sold out. location is good for beach days as the hotel is right on the beach however it is in podstrana which is one road in and one road out into Split. If you plan on going for dinner or trips into Split you need to plan accordingly and early for an Uber, a 9km ride took us one hour one day and was awful, if planning on never leaving the hotel then it is fine however not many other food options around parking was free however very tight and hard to move around or even get a spot. Seems that many people just park here for the beach who aren’t staying at the hotel, they should consider having the arm to the lot down with a key card for hotel guests only for use

Overall, once upgraded our experience was better however if we didn’t have that option or experience in split would have been absolutely awful. gala annex building should really be listed as a separate hotel which would be merely 2 stars if that. It was very deceptive that it fell under the san Antonio’s 4 star rating.

It was a HORRIBLE middle section to our honeymoon. Would never recommend.

to note we did ask the front desk for help and suggestions as to how to improve our stay and they said “this is what you booked and is your problem they did not provide free upgrade...
