Thank you for most unfriendly welcome ever.
Yesterday evening, me and my partner wanted to go to the dinner at Restaurant L’angolo. The main waiter, or whatever he is (guy on the pic under) just said “we don’t have place for you two, kein Platz, you can go inside or you can go somewhere else, outside only reservations” than we said that we are also willing to wait - the terrace is big and I’m pretty sure that is not EVERY single place reserved. But ok! We waited for few minutes, in between he took a group of 5 people who also asked for spontaneous place and they’ve become a place. Then we asked again, and said once again that we are willing to way and the guy was really agressive and said “or inside or you can go away!”
I’m sorry, we are tourists and we are willing to pay you and to leave our money here, you can not screm on us and through us away, if you are working there, as a waiter, you have to have just a little kindly friendly communication in yourself. We are not even tourists, we are living out of Cro and I am from here. Croatians aren’t unfriendly, everyone is welcome. And you are living and becoming money from Croatians also in winter. Or? Unfortunately, more people, locals, from Porec and around agreed with me yesterday evening that the guy in Restaurant L’angolo isn’t friendly at all.
Sorry, radije cu ici tamo gdje su ljudi dragi i simpaticni nego negdje gdje ce me neki bezobrazni konobar isjtjerati van. Sramota. Ne zasluzuje biti i raditi u Hrvatskoj i sramotiti...
Read moreThe place is beautifully, comfortably located, food is mouth-watering (absolutely worth the money or even more! Great quality, nice starter served during waiting time, snaps to finish it off) and service is really welcoming from very start until end.
There is just one point that really embarrass me - the service is over-attentive! If you walk by, they are calling you and proposing a table even if you are just passing by. They do not let you to acknowledge the menu peacefully as they stand by you and explain "we have pizza, pasta, seafood, etc., basically everything" - just as if you are not able to read it by yourself! It really is a nuisance for me. Maybe I do not appreciate Croatian hospitality but not everyone likes such a type of socialising and friendliness. Let the guests decide by themselves if they want a table or not (anyway, we decided to eat there and were really satisfied, just the beginning was distracting, Please note introverts also do visit restaurants. I would for sure choose another place if the "welcoming culture" would not be over-attentive in the same way...
Read moreI honestly have no idea how this restaurant has such a high score here. We came around 21.30 hand haven't received our food until almost 11pm. We ordered a meat platter of which 60% was a mountain of badly fried frenchfires, 20% seemingly random stuff they found around the kitchen like brocoli, carrots, oranges and a few other sauces, and 20% burned to a crisp and dry meat haphazardly placed on top of the other stuff. The only good thing were 2 pieces of fried chicken, but those were probably store-bought. We also ordered some fried calamari and got about 15 actual average tasting calamari pieces and a plateful of other random things.
The ambiance of the staff basically constantly standing by your table and monitoring each bite you take as you eat didn't do the restaurant any justice.
If you value good food please stay away from this establishment.
Oh, if the food looks good in the pictures, it's probably just my shaky phone camera shot...
