What a delight. High fare quality of product and I must say very friendly priced (mains for €9).
Romantic relaxed private garden with ambiance and friendly English speaking staff.
Picked up freshly made pastries during the day to take away, saw the kitchenstaff producing fresh homemade pasta by hand. I was stunned and had to come back for dinner. Pastries were delicious of course.
The owner welcomed every dinner table to ask the staff any questions. A real italian gentleman. So i asked for vegetarian options, besides the one on the menu.
Result: delicous vegetarian dishes such as, parmigiana melanzane fettucini cacio e pepe with parmesan lentil ravioli with butter sauce, mushroom and cheese
Also served us freshly baked sourdough, what a gem. Especially in Cuba. They excused themselves for serving it a bit late, tho they explained to rather serve nothing if they can’t serve quality. (This bread took them two days to make). I can appreciate that. The bread came by surprise and was free of charge, as was the sambuca afterwards.
My boyfriend had the homemade gnocci jamon crudo. Even though he is usually not a fan of italian food, he was stunned.
For drinks we got to enjoy sangria, the taste succeeded to meet our Spanish standards (which are quite high to be honest).
Thank you for the beyond quality of the food. I couldn’t dare to wish for a dinner like this in Cuba (as you may have noticed the vegetarian kitchen is not very represented in...
Read moreAmazing restaurant, really a jewel in Cuba to find such great Italian quality food in a country where it is difficult to get even the most simple items. The restaurant is located away from the tourist centre, but it is really worth you while.
The restaurant is top-notch, really the very best. We were welcomed by staff and thereafter the chef owner. He explained that on his menu he only has the plates he can offer. He makes in-house his pasta. The main dishes are either ravioli, gnocci, or pasta with different sauces and / or meat / vegetables .
As a starter, we took small pizza breads that were covered by mushrooms in gorgonzola. That was already a fabulous starter that set the tone for the rest of the dinner.
The main courses of ravioli with gorgonzola and the gnocci dishes were excellent and of a quality one gets in Italy. Really unbelievable that the chef is able to deliver this great quality in Cuba!!
The desserts were as delicious as he offered tiramisu, profiteroles and his creation of a very amazing tasting mille feuille.
At the end, the owner offered us a digestive to complete the meal.
Overall, this is a must visit restaurant if you are in town and like to taste delicious Italian food. The prices are reasonable considering the fabelous food served. He is also open for...
Read moreThis is definitely the place to eat in Trinidad, and was the best food we had during two weeks in Cuba! The food is outstanding, both breakfast, lunch and dinner (we came back for dinner and breakfast after the first amazing lunch). Everything is homemade with fresh and tasty ingredients, and you cannot go wrong no matter what you choose from the menu. During our visits we tried pizzette (mini pizza), pasta, gnocchi, risotto, pastries, cocktails and coffee, and they were all absolutely delicious!
It must also be mentioned that the atmosphere and the service is incredible. The owner and chef, Bruno from Italy, really cares about his guests, and personally greets everyone and makes sure that everything is perfect. His friendliness combined with a great staff, amazing food and drinks and a beautiful back yard really makes eating here an unforgettable experience. My boyfriend (who is Italian) and I agreed that eating here is exactly like eating at a good restaurant in Italy except for two things; at Sapori Italiani the portions are bigger and the prices are lower.
I cannot recommend Sapori Italiani enough, and we will definitely come back next time we are...
