We had high hopes for Kybele after hearing the hype, but what we experienced was nothing short of a disaster.
Despite booking a table for four days in advance, we were dumped in the far end of the garden area, clearly an afterthought. We were seated directly beside overgrown, unkempt bushes swarming with insects. Within minutes, we were being bitten relentlessly on our arms, legs, and even faces. By the time we left, we were covered in insect bites and itching all over. Dining out should never feel like surviving a jungle expedition.
The service? Diabolical. Our server showed zero professionalism or courtesy and to make matters worse, we witnessed him spitting as he delivered our food. Completely unacceptable and revolting. At that point, we had already lost our appetite.
We had ordered three of the most expensive items on the menu, the tomahawk steaks, expecting quality. What we got was tough, overcooked meat with absolutely no seasoning or flavour. It was like chewing rubber. Even the sides were uninspired and cold. For the price we paid, we expected a premium steakhouse experience, not something that resembled a budget roadside diner.
To top it off, not a single member of staff cared enough to ask how our meal was, or acknowledge the clear discomfort we were in.
The whole experience was insulting, a waste of money, time, and energy. Kybele is all flash and no substance, riding on a reputation it clearly doesn’t deserve.
Do yourself a favour: STAY AWAY. There are countless restaurants in North Cyprus that actually know how to treat their guests and serve proper food.Kybele is not...

Visited there Saturday evening August 25 and it was very disappointing.
We have been visiting here every year when we come on holiday but this time the food was unfortunately inedible. We ordered mix kebab for 2, and Mantı for my daughter. I took one bite of the chicken and it tasted like metal and didn’t even have the texture of chicken so god knows what it was, I spat it out immediately. The rest of the food didn’t taste right and even the chips had a weird taste to them. An hour after leaving my husband (who was the only one who ate anything) developed diarrhoea and was on the toilet all night and some of the morning. My daughter had a bad stomach and was unwell all night feeling nauseous.
The bill came to £100 and I can honestly say it was the worse meal I’ve had in my life. Such a shame as we’ve had great memories there of eating delicious food with family and friends but I will not be returning anymore.
Ending on a happy note the Fresh lemonade (Limonata) was nice and the cats were cute.
P.s the cats didn’t even eat...
Read moreI’ve been to Kybele a bunch of times now, and it hasn’t let me down once. The place has this amazing vibe—it’s set in a 13th-century monastery, so there’s something really special about eating there. The atmosphere feels like a mix of history and comfort, and it’s perfect whether you’re going solo or with a group.
There are two car parks on either side, so no stress about parking. It’s a bit more expensive than the usual spots around, but the setting and the food make it totally worth it. Honestly, every time I’ve eaten here, the meal has been great. The flavours are spot on, and the quality’s always been consistent.
I’ve been with my family, friends (some of whom were visiting Cyprus for the first time and come from all over the world), and even gone alone just to enjoy the peace. No matter who I’ve brought, everyone’s always left happy. It’s one of those places that just works for any occasion.
If you’re in the area and want something a little extra special, Kybele is definitely worth the visit. It’s the kind of place that’s hard...
