This lovely Taverna caters with Greek / Cypriot food which immediately impressed me for its fresh meat, in all dishes, all round. The souvlaki is tender with it's own (Greek style) taste of grilling balanced with the sheftali of Cypriot taste (with a creative twist), the liver cooked to perfection in the local tradition but also with a hint of northern Greek softness with its lemony zest, the gyro-salad an interestingly blended meat salad galore. My personal favourites were the Cyprus village sausage as well as the 'politiko' kebab (grill of extra fine pork mince with an aromatic spice blend), as fresh as all the rest and strikingly meaty. There are noticeable similarities and also well blended differences between the Greek and Cypriot cooking with lovely and tastefully balanced spiced nuances with balsamic or olive oil, but the bottom line must really be stressed : the high quality meat. The staff, young but very experienced, alert and very efficient (quick, exact, practically unseen until needed) made our large group most welcome and pampered our every wish almost instantly, Greek style! I haven't enjoyed such local food for a while now and this was definitely top-notch. I would definitely recommend it for tourists but also, and especially, for locals who are well acquainted with...
Read moreThe food quality deteriorated significantly since the last time I ate here. The pork gyros was tasteless and overcooked and the chicken gyros was tasteless as well. I ordered with my fiance the biggest portion for sharing, which we were told contains 300g of meat...nothing like that! We ate it all and we were still hungry. There was no way it was 300g, more like 200-250g. The portion contained like 10 fries, and the tzatziki was spread over half of the pitta bread only. Then the service was fast, but I had to tell the waitress to bring me oil and vinegar for the salad, and lemons. She didn't even ask if we were missing something. Prices are ok, as in most places nowadays. But the quality is very bad compared to 5-6 years ago. Even the chicken souvlaki got worse. I wouldn't return nor...
Read moreOn my first visit I only tried pork souvlaki and that tasted very good. I left thinking that I'll definitely try it again. Upd: pita mix with souvlaki and sheftalia is excellent too! And the service is prompt and kind. Good choice for souvlaki. Upd2: by now I ve eaten here several times and i have always enjoyed the quality of the food and of the good service. The prices are definitely not expensive compared to what you can get in Nicosia these days. İ see some bad reviews about the gyros but i...
