First of all, there are no real Chinese restaurants in Nicosia. I have tried pretty much all of them and while they may claim to cook “Chinese ” they really don’t. Yummy Mandarino somehow is probably the closest to actual Chinese. From what the menu offers and from the dishes I tried I get the feeling the restaurant tries to offer authentic Chinese kitchen, but doesn’t quite dare to go all the way. For example, there is a szechuan beef that could be the real thing, if only it had Szechuan pepper. Yes Szechuan pepper is quite exotic for Cyprus ( it is also not actually pepper), but it’s unique aroma is wheat really makes this dish. Surprisingly you can buy it in Nicosia. I have it right here in my kitchen. I also tried the cumin Lamb, which to my knowledge is of Mongolian origin and it’s not bad, but to be great it needs more cumin, because cumin is really the point of it and Koriander/Cilantro which was completely missing. The bottom line is, Nicosia doesn’t need another pseudo Chinese Restaurant. There are plenty of them with food ranging from ok, to absolutely horrible. An authentic Chinese Restaurant however is what is really missing and Yummy has the potential to be that, if it drops the hesitation and dares to at serve at least a few dishes that are truly Chinese. On a very positive side note , of 4 dishes I tried, the only one that was oily was the one that is actually supposed to be oily. I truly hope Yummy Mandarin will move even closer to real Chinese .
Update: I have visited the restaurant now. As a matter of fact I am writing this from our table at the restaurant after a truly wonderful dinner. It was a massive step up from my initial delivery order. I'm very happy to say this is now the place to go for everyone who desires to eat actual authentic...
Read moreMy family and I have been there 3 times before last night, and it was fine. But last night I ordered spicy tufu for me and pork noodles for the kids, I didn't look on other dishes as my husband was the one ordering the starter and the rest. I ordered noodles for the kids, everything came even the extra dish that we ordered later came, too. There was an extra serve of dumplings, we were wondering why the noodles didn't come yet, so we complained and the waiter who took our order said that I ordered dumplings and she was a little rude(she said she even asked me if I want it boiled or fried and I said boiled which is true, I want the noodles boiled). I know for SURE I ordered noodles because I ordered it for my kids and I ordered it FIRST! It's so upsetting because the waitress insisted it was my fault when she didn't even take time to read our orders before leaving our table,if she did that, we would have known what she had written and corrected it. In short, we left after my husband and I finished eating( I actually lost my appetite aftet that), our children hungry because they didn't like anything else from there except the crackers that they serve as a complimentary. We will...

I went several times. Restaurant is owned and managed by chinese. Although it looks new and nice but following concerns were observed but unfortunately absence of Municipality checks and enforcement it is in comma doing nothing.
Smells bad outside due to dumping waste, dirty oil and water in the street (poor hygiene) which can not do in china. I really feel sorry for the neighbourhood as it attracts insects and pollution.
some meals have clearly unpleasant taste (rancid) as meat not washed and cleaned carefully before served or maybe musty.
one visit, i caught chinese manager shouting, and humiliating staff although we are in EU but he is behaving like living in china in treating waiters with no respect and no morally. Hence, lack of minimum human rights and poor enforcement by labour office.
Interestingly, is not providing visitors with parking space. So, blocking street and parking illegally on double...
