We spent a couple of days at this resort surrounded by the breathtaking Bohemian Switzerland Natural Park. It was wonderful to just step outside after breakfast and be on a forest path up the hill already. We arrived by electric car knowing they don't offer EV charging, but they gladly let us trickle charge a little to get to the nearest fast charger anyways. The room was spacious, comfy with clean and fresh bathroom and plenty of power outlets. What was a bit concerning were the clear signs of forced entry on the door, so we intended to use the safe for our valuables as per the brochure. Unfortunately, we could not find the safe and so we asked the reception about it. They were so convinced there had to be a safe that they came to look for themselves. When they couldn't find one, they delivered one the following day while we got to keep our valuables by the reception. The safe was rather half heartedly installed by placing it on a shelf in our room with batteries, fixtures and instructions in a plastic bag inside. Luckily, I had my own screwdriver set and so could make it operational, but they should really be fastening it to something sturdy. The restaurant was ok, although the dinner menu had less to offer to eco-conscious, vegetarian visitors. The breakfast had a good range to pick from, but the produce did not seem fresh. Both the fruit bowl and veggies looked a little sad. To their defense, they did mention their kitchen was under renovation, so this might not be the norm. Overall, I would certainly come back again and can whole heartedly recommend this resort to anyone looking hike and discover Bohemian Switzerland.

We stayed 2 nights in the bungalow G with breakfast. The room was very cozy and nicely designed. The bed could have used a big mattress rather than 2 separate ones. It would be much more practical, and you would get into the gap between the two matresses while cuddling. The terrace was a great bonus, although we could not use it due to the weather. The room could have been cleaner, but it was still alright. The receptionists were friendly, and we could communicate in English. The first day, the breakfast was just ok because we got there too late. The fried eggs were cooked in the heated container and were more like boiled eggs (the real boiled eggs were cold), but that was our fault. You should definitely be earlier at the breakfast buffet. The second day, the breakfast was much better. There was cheese, meat, sausages, cake, cornflakes, boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, fruits, vegetables, and more to choose from. On our second night, we ate at the restaurant. The food was good and we were satisfied with our meal, but there are also better options nearby. Service was fast and efficient. You can only pay by cash, and if you pay with euros, they charge more, but it was not a big problem for us.

The room they gave us doesn’t match the ones in the photos. Small and not comfy. The bed and bath are fine. If you wanna try to sleep in a little... As early as 6:30 the room will be flooded with light and the transparent blinds wont do a thing. Also the vehicles and buses passing in front of you will wake you up in the most idilic way. One night stench from a septic tank smell entered the room from outside. For a 4 star hotel that particular room not is up to standards. About the restaurant: I might have chosen the wrong dish but the pasta with cod was just disgusting. And from other sources its pretty common. The breakfast buffet was alright altough clean plates were wet and the meat products weren’t 4 star worthy. The photo i upload its the view from our room at 7:00 in the morning. I just think they gave us one of the worst rooms, probably others are better. I can’t rate it higher than 2 stars.

WARNING for those considering staying at U Forta “4 stars”.

WHEN YOU PAY FOR A SUPERIOR ROOM IN A 4 STAR RESORT (€100+) YOU EXPECT AT LEAST THE BASICS!

We stayed a night in their "superior" rooms, paying €98,29 for the privilege. Hot water ran out in the beginning of my shower and didn't come back for the entire night. There was not a single staff member available at 23:10 to help and my boyfriend had to have a freezing cold shower and I went to bed covered in soap.

Wouldn't mind so much if it were a campsite or hostel but I splashed out a little for a gift for partner and you hope to both be able to shower in a Superior Room/4 star resort (especially after we were caught in a rainstorm after hiking all day so we were muddy, cold and wet when we got back to our room)

AN EXAMPLE IN POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER AN UNPLEASANT STAY

What we're really upset about however is the treatment we've received since then. The owner wasn't present the next day either so we left our complaint at reception and continued by email. First, the lovely and helpful receptionist assured us (in person and over email) that the boiler turns off when there is a storm which happens occasionally and that we would be refunded for everything except the breakfast (fair!) but later the same day the owner, Ivana, informed us that there was no problem with the boiler and ruled that we had simply stayed in the shower too long and that "it is 10 minutes before water is warm again". The implication was that we were simply spoiled, high-maintenance customers and the statement was simply untrue (I should know as I had my cold, cold shower 25 minutes later after searching in vain for assistance in U Forta and you can rest assured I tried many times to have a hot shower before resigning to a soapy and shivery sleep!).

The solution offered "as sign of good attention" was a 15% discount for the next time we were passing through Bohemian Switzerland...I live in Australia.

Our next three emails over the next week and a half were simply ignored. All we asked was that they recognise a failure to provide the service we had purchased and return the money for the night. They eventually responded when we suggested we would have to pursue other channels but only to re-state the original, entirely useless offer and without any form of apology, recognition of their untrue statements or acceptance of responsibility.

To add to this: There’s no AC - it will be uncomfortable in summer No tea/coffee or drinking water Heater didn’t work Shower head broken 2 single beds pushed together No curtains just fabric so no privacy and the light comes in at sunrise No hot water

Not good enough, extremely basic/no frills and motive enough to warn others off.

Happy...

We spent 3 nights here, we were in a bungalow, on the top floor. The hotel is well located in terms of hiking trails. There is not much to see on the road to Hrensko due to the forest fire, it is worth traveling by bus or car (6km). They speak both English and German, English is preferred in the hotel. You have to bring cash, you can pay by card in the hotel, but in most places you can only pay with cash. NEGATIVE: Cleaning is not the best, unfortunately. "Just" the clearly visible surfaces are cleaned. There is a carpet on the upper floor, which can not be kept perfectly clean. I washed brown dirt off the shower wall.. The minibar was dirty inside. The shower is a little damaged (wrong use), it is not visible in the pictures on the booking.

There are indeed problems with warm water. Since we read it here in the reviews, we paid attention to it. We showered quickly and always a few hours apart, but unfortunately there was not always/enough warm water.

The plates in the breakfast area are small, so if you have a good appetite, you need at least 2-3 plates.

POSITIVE: Very good location (for tours). Very kind, helpful and patient people. Calm, quiet place (yes the walls are thin but we didn't experience any noise on the 2.floor).

Fried eggs, scrambled eggs, cheese, sausages, ham, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee, fruit, etc. can be chosen for breakfast. The restaurant (breakfast room also) is just 1 minute walk from the house. I think this restaurant has been open the longest. Most restaurants in Hrensko sent us off at 20:00-20:30. This place closes at 22:00.

The view is beautiful, the sound of nature is very good. The bed is also quite comfortable, the mattresses...

The location was good and within walking distance to hiking trails. However, some of these trails are closed off due to a fire that happened two years ago. Beds were also comfortable and not sunken in.||At first glance, the hotel seemed chic, clean, and modern, but upon closer inspection, the cleanliness left much to be desired. The carpet wasn’t clean and the sofa (which converts into a sofa bed) was so bent out of shape and uncomfortable. During our three-day stay, the room was never properly cleaned—only the towels were replaced, and the trash bin was emptied.||The kitchen area was another disappointment. The dishes were dirty, and we had to wash them ourselves before using them. The bed sheets were also a problem, as there were hairs from the previous guest still on them, making it clear that they hadn’t been properly changed. Additionally, the showers had mold on the floors and tiles, which showed that the rooms were cleaned with the same lackluster approach as the overall service.||As for the staff, most seemed unfriendly and unmotivated. Smiles and greetings were rare, and the service didn’t have the warm, welcoming feel one would expect from a modern and pricey establishment.||It’s a total shame because the pictures make the hotel appear new and modern, but in reality, it seems to be degrading in quality due to the staff's lackluster efforts and poor customer service. I would highly recommend not staying in the hotel itself. However, if you must stay here, the bungalows might be a better option. That said, be prepared for staff that are only half-friendly and a lack of the hospitality you’d expect in a...
