WARNING for those considering staying at U Forta “4 stars”.
WHEN YOU PAY FOR A SUPERIOR ROOM IN A 4 STAR RESORT (€100+) YOU EXPECT AT LEAST THE BASICS!
We stayed a night in their "superior" rooms, paying €98,29 for the privilege. Hot water ran out in the beginning of my shower and didn't come back for the entire night. There was not a single staff member available at 23:10 to help and my boyfriend had to have a freezing cold shower and I went to bed covered in soap.
Wouldn't mind so much if it were a campsite or hostel but I splashed out a little for a gift for partner and you hope to both be able to shower in a Superior Room/4 star resort (especially after we were caught in a rainstorm after hiking all day so we were muddy, cold and wet when we got back to our room)
AN EXAMPLE IN POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER AN UNPLEASANT STAY
What we're really upset about however is the treatment we've received since then. The owner wasn't present the next day either so we left our complaint at reception and continued by email. First, the lovely and helpful receptionist assured us (in person and over email) that the boiler turns off when there is a storm which happens occasionally and that we would be refunded for everything except the breakfast (fair!) but later the same day the owner, Ivana, informed us that there was no problem with the boiler and ruled that we had simply stayed in the shower too long and that "it is 10 minutes before water is warm again". The implication was that we were simply spoiled, high-maintenance customers and the statement was simply untrue (I should know as I had my cold, cold shower 25 minutes later after searching in vain for assistance in U Forta and you can rest assured I tried many times to have a hot shower before resigning to a soapy and shivery sleep!).
The solution offered "as sign of good attention" was a 15% discount for the next time we were passing through Bohemian Switzerland...I live in Australia.
Our next three emails over the next week and a half were simply ignored. All we asked was that they recognise a failure to provide the service we had purchased and return the money for the night. They eventually responded when we suggested we would have to pursue other channels but only to re-state the original, entirely useless offer and without any form of apology, recognition of their untrue statements or acceptance of responsibility.
To add to this: There’s no AC - it will be uncomfortable in summer No tea/coffee or drinking water Heater didn’t work Shower head broken 2 single beds pushed together No curtains just fabric so no privacy and the light comes in at sunrise No hot water
Not good enough, extremely basic/no frills and motive enough to warn others off.

Read moreWe spent 3 nights here, we were in a bungalow, on the top floor. The hotel is well located in terms of hiking trails. There is not much to see on the road to Hrensko due to the forest fire, it is worth traveling by bus or car (6km). They speak both English and German, English is preferred in the hotel. You have to bring cash, you can pay by card in the hotel, but in most places you can only pay with cash. NEGATIVE: Cleaning is not the best, unfortunately. "Just" the clearly visible surfaces are cleaned. There is a carpet on the upper floor, which can not be kept perfectly clean. I washed brown dirt off the shower wall.. The minibar was dirty inside. The shower is a little damaged (wrong use), it is not visible in the pictures on the booking.
There are indeed problems with warm water. Since we read it here in the reviews, we paid attention to it. We showered quickly and always a few hours apart, but unfortunately there was not always/enough warm water.
The plates in the breakfast area are small, so if you have a good appetite, you need at least 2-3 plates.
POSITIVE: Very good location (for tours). Very kind, helpful and patient people. Calm, quiet place (yes the walls are thin but we didn't experience any noise on the 2.floor).
Fried eggs, scrambled eggs, cheese, sausages, ham, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee, fruit, etc. can be chosen for breakfast. The restaurant (breakfast room also) is just 1 minute walk from the house. I think this restaurant has been open the longest. Most restaurants in Hrensko sent us off at 20:00-20:30. This place closes at 22:00.
The view is beautiful, the sound of nature is very good. The bed is also quite comfortable, the mattresses...
Read moreThe location was good and within walking distance to hiking trails. However, some of these trails are closed off due to a fire that happened two years ago. Beds were also comfortable and not sunken in.||At first glance, the hotel seemed chic, clean, and modern, but upon closer inspection, the cleanliness left much to be desired. The carpet wasn’t clean and the sofa (which converts into a sofa bed) was so bent out of shape and uncomfortable. During our three-day stay, the room was never properly cleaned—only the towels were replaced, and the trash bin was emptied.||The kitchen area was another disappointment. The dishes were dirty, and we had to wash them ourselves before using them. The bed sheets were also a problem, as there were hairs from the previous guest still on them, making it clear that they hadn’t been properly changed. Additionally, the showers had mold on the floors and tiles, which showed that the rooms were cleaned with the same lackluster approach as the overall service.||As for the staff, most seemed unfriendly and unmotivated. Smiles and greetings were rare, and the service didn’t have the warm, welcoming feel one would expect from a modern and pricey establishment.||It’s a total shame because the pictures make the hotel appear new and modern, but in reality, it seems to be degrading in quality due to the staff's lackluster efforts and poor customer service. I would highly recommend not staying in the hotel itself. However, if you must stay here, the bungalows might be a better option. That said, be prepared for staff that are only half-friendly and a lack of the hospitality you’d expect in a...
