Kolkovna Stodůlky — Restaurant in Prague

During every visit to Prague, we make sure to dine at one of the Kolkovna restaurants – we’ve always been satisfied with the food, the atmosphere, and the service. Unfortunately, our most recent visit left us with a very unpleasant impression.

After taking our seats, we asked for an English menu. If someone asks for an English menu, it’s quite clear they don’t speak Czech fluently – and that has never been an issue before. However, the waitress named L...a who was serving us interrupted my wife while she was placing the order in English, abruptly saying “no English.” She did so in a rude and unnecessarily harsh manner. We had to ask a friend at our table who speaks Czech to place the order for us.

What disappointed us even more is that during our previous visit to the exact same location in May – there was no issue with speaking English. The staff then were polite, helpful, and accommodating. This shows that there are employees in the restaurant who can and are willing to serve English-speaking guests. If someone is not confident in the language, it’s always possible to ask a colleague for help – a little bit of goodwill would have been enough.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it. We ordered a starter and main courses – everything was brought to the table at the same time, which disrupted the flow of the meal and was far below the standards we’ve come to expect based on our previous visits. The food itself was tasty, but people don’t come to a restaurant just for the food – they come to enjoy time with others in a pleasant atmosphere.

It’s sad to say, but this experience completely ruined our evening and seriously damaged the positive opinion we used to have of this restaurant chain. We truly hope this was just an isolated incident – but sadly, it was unpleasant enough that we won’t forget it...

The atmosphere when you enter and feel like an intruder is really giving you great overall feeling since start. Noone really paid attention when we have entered, apart from weird looks from guys behind beer tap and chefs. When we took a seat after minutes of waiting for a waiter to notice us we have asked if we can even sit here as we had to wave at waitress to pay any attention. We have been informed we could have sit closer, closer to what? There is hell of temperature outside and noone was eilling to guide us to “closer” table. I feel really bad about anybody going here for anything other than a beer and go. Clearly 4 to 6 tables are too many for 2 waitresses and 2 guys behind a beer tap. Food is not bad though, but after couple of complaints I am not too sure I want to trust my servers and chefs around my food and drinks. Not accusing of anything, but understand the feeling had the reason. Fact that on Sunday around 3:30PM you will have to experience this to get nothing special is really absurd. Even when food was not bad, I cannot really give better raring as waiting stuff did the worst possible job in such low business as it was. This can really be a good restaurant, not with this...

Velké zklamání. Do této restaurace jsme chodili rádi a tak když jsme po jedné důležité zdravotní kontrole byli navštívit na Stodůlkách rodinu a drobně oslavit skvělé zprávy, byla Kolkovna jasnou volbou. Bohužel číšník nám náladu zkazil ještě před tím, než jsme si stihli objednat pití. K mému taťkovi se choval jako ho.ado. Opravdu odporné chování! Do teď nevím přesně proč. Hrála v tom roli rouška, na kterou si pan číšník stěžoval, že ji musí mít dvanáct hodin a nám drze předhodil “a vy to nevydržíte ani do objednání”. Můj taťka byl zaskočený a poznamenal, že nikdo ji u stolu nasazenou přece nemá a že se jdeme najíst a pán nám odvětil, že přece už všichni jedí (jedly asi tři stoly z deseti). Vzhledem k tomu, že v době pandemie naprosto rozumím obavám z nákazy a zároveň jsem už trošku zmatená ze všech těch neustale se měnících pravidel, zeptala jsem se, zda-li si tedy roušku máme nasadit a počkat na jídlo na čež mi bylo velice nepříjemně odpovězeno “to je přece na vás!”. V tuhle chvíli už jsem teda fakt nevěděla, jak se pánovi od obsluhy zavděčit a získat z něj vlídné chování. Ono to možná bude celé znít dost banálně, ale bohužel celá situace se nedá úplně slovy popsat a z psaného textu to pravděpodobně tolik nevyzní, ale opravdu chování pana číšníka bylo odporné. Další problém byl, že číšník byl vzteklý, protože mu táta přes roušku blbě rozuměl a nechal si tři věty zopakovat. 🤦🏽‍♀️ V tu chvíli už mi bylo z chování obsluhy tak smutno, že moje dobrá nálada z onko kontroly, která dopadla na jedničku byla úplně pryč. Měla jsem chuť se zvednout a odejít, protože mě přešli krom nálady i hlad a chuť. Kdyby s námi nebyl i můj taťka, který chtěl novinky oslavit, ale nechtělo se mu vzdalovat od bydliště, tak opravdu s manželem okamžitě odcházíme. Takhle naštvaná jsem v restauraci nikdy nebyla! Opravdu ne! Kolkovna má prvenství! Za poslední roky jsem měla pocit, že takovéto odporné a nepříjemné chování se z našich restaurací již vytratilo, ale zde mi ukázali, že za vodou ještě nejsme. Jídlo bylo průměrné, ale opravdu už jsem byla tak v šoku, že jsem si ho absolutně nedokázala užít. Nechtěla jsem být jedna z těch co si hned běží pobrečet na internet, ale když mi někdo zkazí chuť na jídlo, nenechá mě to v klidu!🤷🏽‍♀️😊 Mimochodem - v Kolkovně je vždycky strašná zima. Vím, že jsem tam mrzla už dávno před lety, když zde otevřeli.🤔 Vždy mě to překvapilo, ale to už je jen takový dodatek. Každopádně tohle byla naše poslední návštěva. Příště si na oslavu dobrých zpráv zajdeme na jídlo rozhodně jinam. Tak a teď jdu napsat recenzi jiné restauraci, kde byla obsluha perfektní a milá, jídlo bylo skvělé a svět bude zase...
