Right in the heart of Lyngby you will find Meyers Spisehus. Location is great, easy to get to by public transport and loads of parking space if you come with car.
First of all, the place gets super hot. For some reason they don't like ventilation in there. The staff run around with red faces from the heat. While you wait yourself to be served, you start feeling it too. You see more and more people pour in through the door to try the food here. Temperature rises higher and higher.
Not only is the place hot, but they've chosen a raw look exposing pipes and concrete. There are no sound absorption in there. So while you are hot, you also start to lose your hearing because everyone is yelling at each other because it is so loud in there.
The food is pretty good though! Somewhat Danish inspired with their own twist. I had the veal, which was very tender and prepared as they medium rare, which I was asked for. For desert I had some blue cheese glazed with honey.
One thing about the food to note is that the main dish comes without sides. So these have to be ordered on top. But they are quite unproportionate between each other. So if you order a salad, it is for one person. If you order potatoes there is enough for 2-3 persons.
Anyways, come on a cold day and get warmed and deafened in Meyers Spisehus, while eating...
Read moreWe opted for the vegan option, as we always do, and tried the vegan version of the 5-course meal “Det grønne område,” which is the only course they offer in a vegan style. Unfortunately, we’ve been disappointed on both occasions we’ve visited. It’s particularly frustrating because we provided feedback after our first visit, yet nothing seems to have been improved.
So, what went wrong with the food? Everything was drenched in oil, leaving spoonfuls of it on the plates after each dish. Almost everything was fried, and there was a glaring absence of fresh vegetables—a must in vegan cuisine, if you ask me. Frying destroys many essential nutrients, making the lack of fresh ingredients even more concerning. The mushroom steak, in particular, tasted like it was highly processed, almost as if it were factory-made.
I’m genuinely unimpressed and will likely not return unless the chefs receive proper training in vegan cooking, which they currently only claim to be able to do.
On a positive note, the three waiters were exceptionally nice and service-minded, and the restaurant’s setting...

I have been quite disappointed of my recent visits to Meyers. The pizza went from being quite good to mediocre, as many of the options have become quite oily.
I was particularly disappointed of the Seafood festival in May 2024, the moules frittes were bad - I'm not sure if they were old, not cleaned properly, or just cooked in a bad way, but I could not eat them, and I'm not a picky eater. Besides that, the servers got me a cocktail when I asked for a soft drink, then they forgot to bring my water. The main course had a waiting time of 45 minutes, even though the restaurant was barely half full and many of the customers had preordered the menu. After this, I will like never come back here again, as there are many better places to eat in Lyngby.

Went here for dinner on a Thursday afternoon. The food was excellent and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately around 19:00 the place got very busy and chaotic, so it became very loud and we had to ask for the bill 3 times...
