Pork and Beer Culture — Restaurant in Santiago de los Caballeros

My husband and I were highly anticipated on trying the food from this place. I travel for work and I love to explore hidden gems, but this place was far from a gem. We arrived and the waitress ignored us while we waited patiently to get our order, she was setting up a few tables for apparently a large party. After waiting for a few minutes another server, a male, took our order before the large party arrived. Seconds later the party of 8 arrived and she began to take their order before ours (mind you we were already waiting 20 mins for our order to be taken). Once she took their order by then their food had promptly arrived as we were left waiting for our food to arrive even ordering BEFORE the large party arrived. The male server came back asking if we wanted anything else and we said we still haven’t even received our food yet and We asked him how much longer and he said it will be out momentarily. That “momentarily” became an additional 20 mins. By this time we were starving and frustrated with the service. We paid for our juice and said to cancel the order. When I addressed the issue to the gentleman at the cashier he asked the waitress and LIED and said she took our food to the wrong table when that is NOT a what happened! Overall due to this unfortunate experience I would never go back to this place and would NEVER recommend this place to any of my friends who also travel to...

I ordered a mofongo de chicharrón from this restaurant and had one of the most disappointing and concerning food experiences I've ever had.

Spoiled Chicken: The chicken had a strong, foul odor that made it clear it was not fresh. It was completely inedible and should never have been served.

Suspicious Ingredients: The mofongo was mixed with shredded cabbage and pieces of tostones, almost as if leftover scraps from other dishes had been mashed together. This made the meal feel careless and unsanitary.

Plastic in the Food: The most disturbing part was finding a piece of plastic inside the food. This is a serious health risk and shows a complete lack of attention to food safety.

This was not just a disappointing meal, it was a clear indication of poor kitchen practices and a disregard for customer health. I would strongly caution others against ordering from here until serious improvements are made in quality control...

El lugar es acogedor, buena música, apto para comer y conversar. Puedes ir en solitario o con compañía ya sea pareja, familia o amistades.

El chicharrón es la especialidad, pero además tienen otros platos como mofongo, carnitas, pechugas y longaniza que puedes acompañar con diferentes guarniciones como yuca encebollada, plátanos fritos y yuca frita.

Tienen una variedad de cervezas locales e internacionales para elegir. Los precios son buenos en relación a la calidad. Es fácil de llegar al lugar ya que tiene diferentes vías desde las cuales puedes acceder al establecimiento. Puedes consumir en el lugar ya que se respetan las medidas de distanciamiento entre las mesas. Otra opción muy interesante es que puedes ordenar por teléfono o vía web y recoger para llevar o puedes ordenar para delivery. Se puede ordenar por la web con delivery propio, por pedidos ya y también Uber eats, si no me equivoco también están disponibles en Hugo. En fin, si deseas comer chicharrón de calidad.

Después de decir todo lo bueno, también debo de indicar lo que no me gusta. Es una opinión muy personal ya que cada quien tiene gustos distintos. No me gustan los fritos ya que siempre que los he pedido salen quemados para mí gusto porque no me gusta el plátano verde frito que queda marrón ya que cuando eso pasa es porque o está semi maduro o lo dejaron pasar de fuego, pero en su defensa, la yuca encebollada es Sabrosa y como sugerencia, deberían agregar guineos verdes en las guarniciones.
