Palmetto Hotel — Hotel in Santiago de los Caballeros

This is a new hotel in a very good location with a great price. The staff was very helpful they helped me to get a taxi and gave me great suggestions of places to visit, I spoke to everyone in Spanish but I felt very welcomed as a foreigner. Breakfast is included in the price and there is a great selection of meals which can be chosen the night before. Depending on what room you are in you can have a great view but if you prefer something quieter ask for a room without a view. There is a good selection of tv channels. There is hot water if you're accustomed to taking hot showers. The wifi works well throughout most of the hotel and if you want a better connection there is claro phone store very close by where you can buy a sim card with an internet package. There are many great places in walking distance of this hotel. There are two plaza malls with movie theaters, stores and food courts inside, there are also a few banks and supermarkets. Also thre a re few tourist destinations that are not that far away, you can take a taxi, moto or even walk to some of them. The rooms are new and everything comfortable and working. There is a great tv channel selection and air conditioner. If anything is lacking just ask the staff and they're very quick to help.

I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. Some rooms don't receive the best wifi signal. I am wrote this review from the hotel with 3/5 bars, but that's good...

Roaches and more roaches. I stayed at this hotel for a weekend. Chatgpt had recommended the hotel stating that it was clean and cheap. While it was clean and the rate was very cheap it has issues.

The room was very small but it was clean. The room had a refrigerator that worked but the furniture inside the room look very worn and dated. They give you two towels that also look worn and dated. After being in the room for a while you notice roaches.

I asked to move to another room and they obliged. This room the air conditioner really stunk. Plus it had a strong bleach odor from the cleaning. When I went into the bathroom guess what---another roach.

The hotel is very basic and it's loud since you're near a main Street. There are no elevators. There are no irons. There's really nothing there unless you bring it yourself. I believe my room had two hangers for the closet.

The good news because I don't want to be totally negative. The staff is really kind and pleasant. Breakfast in the morning is free. They don't give you much food but you have an option between a small omelette and mangu. They also give you juice which was watermelon and something else I forgot.

The hotel is in the great location. It's close to the new huge mall and the bus station. Getting Ubers is very easy.

Would I stay again? Only if they renovated and they get rid of the roaches. Right now I wouldn't...

For 1,5 weeks I stayed in a row in the Palmetto Hotel in Santiago de los Caballeros and after this time I can fully recommend the place for other travelers. The reception personnel was always friendly and helpful. Due to my extended stay I had to use three different rooms, which was fine - so I could experience the best locations of a room, which is definitely a room away from the street looking to the backside of the hotel. The street is quite noisy during the day (lots of honking), but gets calm in the night. All three rooms were tidy and the beds very very comfy for a a restful sleep during my whole time there. There are two things to be aware of: the hotel has no elevator and the breakfast is quite limited. Therefore, I bought my own stuff (there is fridge in the room) and so I got always my own excellent breakfast. The ladies of the breakfast place were always happy to help and even made juice from my oranges which I brought along. Also the housekeeping staff were super-friendly - especially Mrs. Luz. The breakfast place on the rooftop is also a nice for sitting in the evening in the open air. There are 2 supermarkets 6 minutes walking and a good bakery 3 min walking from the hotel. Right besides the hotel 2 min walking is a shopping center with lots of option for food (Dominos, KFC, Burger King, Chines, Steaks...
