Casa Vera — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

I was very excited to visit this restaurant. It had some delicious food on the menu. We got chicken croquettes, pizza, fried calamari, and short rib tacos. The croquettes were amazingly delicious! You can see the chicken. The pizza was also tasty. The calamari was weird-had a gross aftertaste and honestly tasted chemically. 🤢 The short rib tacos were okay. We asked for the onions on the side because when people caramelize things in this country, they add sugar. 🙄 one had none and the other two had the onions. The avocado cream and pico added good flavor. For our meal, I got the salmon with guava and pistachio. It was different, but the guava flavor went well with the salmon and I liked the crunch from the pistachio. The steak was good but could have used more seasoning, but the potatoes were flavorful! Do NOT order bolognese anywhere in this country. Every time we do, it has a vinegary smell and, as far as I can tell, it means the meat is bad 🤮. Service was pretty efficient. I have visited this restaurant many times before. But last night I was so disappointed by the service, the food. My favorite item in the menu always has been the Polpo a la parrilla. My experience last night was very but one, the Polpo I ordered was very salted, the texture was soggy, over seasoned, it was not good. I also ordered a Chillo a la parrilla, to me it wasn't a chillo, it looked like a another kind of fish, also salted and dry, not very good either. The servers were not paying attention and not to accommodate. It's like I said, all my others times that I eat there was an excellent experience, with great food and great service. I hope that my last night experience was only last night and hope the management takes the appropriate steps to make sure that the restaurant continues provide great service and food for...

Went specifically to see a Champions League game, having first rung the day before to confirm they were showing the game. On arrival the screen was showing repeat of a la liga game, but when we requested they put on the live game they had assured me they were showing, noone knew how to find the channel or change the programme. Twenty minutes ensued during which time the game had started and still noone had turned up who could change the station. We left to find another place to watch the game, arriving in time to have missed the first twenty minutes and the first goal.
