I went to this restaurant based on reviews I hade read on Google. As an American that has lived all over USA including Texas I can honestly say the food here is no where near Mexican food. To start with the salsa had the look but no flavor of fresh peppers. The chips seemed store bought and not fresh. I love a crispy Chimichanga so I order it and it was soggy and not crispy. The first thing I tasted was sugar and it was overwhelming. I had them take it back it was so bad! My wife had fajitas and they were better but still sugar was added. I ordered 3 chicken tacos to replace the horrible soggy Chimichangas and I got 3 very small tacos with pico de galo/guacamole is very small proportions. Thankfully, I ordered beer and not mixed drinks as I heard they over sugar their margaritas as well.
My advice if you want Mexican food without any Mexican seasoning then eat here but if you actually want some flavor besides suger eat...

So I ordered it kind of blindly. Then I noticed it tasted a bit too sweet and found out La Doña makes their sangria with canned fruit, not fresh fruit, which is terribly disappointing, considering that when I talked to the restaurant staff about it, they told me they KNEW it was not the best way to make a sangria but that those were the instructions from ownership — it seems kind of cheap to have that approach towards a $30 pitcher. So it made me wonder what other dishes they are having this...
Read moreWe Americans think we know everything about restaurants. So when we go to a different country and visit a restaurant that's sort of from our own country even though it might be Italian or Mexican it doesn't really matter we think we're experts. And that's because America is a melting pot with multiple cultures and multiple everything you can imagine. For an outstanding Italian restaurant to be in Guayaquil is amazing for an American to discover. If I lived here I would come here for every meal that actually mattered to me because I know I would eat something that's good that taste like it should and I can leave thinking that I had a great meal. This is that kind of place I highly...
