The traditional amazonian food, from the side of Ecuador. A place you must visit to live the complete experience there. We always try "Maito de Tilapia". Fish cooked wrapped in a tree leave and served with yuca, traditional salad with products from there like palmito and garabato yuyo (green shoots) and onions and tomato and the big lemon from there, called "limón mandarina". That last one makes the whole dish incredible.
Another thing you must try is "chontacuro". You have to be brave and go for it. It's a grilled worm. The look is not the best but it tastes awesome. You cannot leave there without trying it.

Read moreThe place itself is nothing special, as it's not really a restaurant, but rather a food stand which offers seating. The food is however really tasty and affordable. You get a free pitcher of tea as well. I recommend trying the maito de tilapia or the grilled chontacuro if you're feeling adventurous. While another review mentioned that the neighborhood is unsafe, we (2 girls) felt pretty safe and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary...
Read moreLugar de gastronomía típica de la amazonia, tengo reseña anteriores de este lugar, no ha cambiado prácticamente en nada, el plato fuerte es la tilapia en maito, consiste en un pescado de río preparado con sal y envuelto en una hoja, acompañado de yuca, palmito y garabato yuyo.... otro plato es el maito de gallina o pollo, menudencias entre otros platos.. el costo es de 5 dólares incluye una bebida llamada Guayusa, que es como una hoja de té de la selva, con un sabor característico, tiene propiedades antioxidantes, diurético y te mantiene despierto... el local es feo, un techo de zinc y las mesas, un baño que no cuesta lo que te cobran por lo feo y sucio que es, en fin no ha cambiado nada en años... venta de artesanías, jugos y gran cantidad de cantantes callejeros... la comida es buena, se mantiene su sazón, gran cantidad de personas comiendo, por lo que la atención es pésima y puedes durar un buen tiempo esperando a que te atiendan y...
