The traditional amazonian food, from the side of Ecuador. A place you must visit to live the complete experience there. We always try "Maito de Tilapia". Fish cooked wrapped in a tree leave and served with yuca, traditional salad with products from there like palmito and garabato yuyo (green shoots) and onions and tomato and the big lemon from there, called "limón mandarina". That last one makes the whole dish incredible. Another thing you must try is "chontacuro". You have to be brave and go for it. It's a grilled worm. The look is not the best but it tastes awesome. You cannot leave there without trying it. Guayusa is the drink that accompanies any dish and it's free. Particularly I'm something reluctant to take anything not cooked there as water is not always the cleanest, so despite it tastes great, go with caution.

Comimos delicioso. Excelente Mishki Maito!

The place itself is nothing special, as it's not really a restaurant, but rather a food stand which offers seating. The food is however really tasty and affordable. You get a free pitcher of tea as well. I recommend trying the maito de tilapia or the grilled chontacuro if you're feeling adventurous. While another review mentioned that the neighborhood is unsafe, we (2 girls) felt pretty safe and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary...
