ChuanXi restaurant HotPot — Restaurant in Cairo

This was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had eating out.

Walked in to the HORRIBLE stink of cigarette smoke, the manager is smoking indoors and the smell sticks as it is a small place. The service is really beyond bad. Made our order, 10 minutes later they came to tell us they didn’t have the enoki mushrooms in stock. I ordered oyster mushrooms, another 10 minutes pass and told those are out of stock lol then not once were we checked in despite being the ONLY table dining there. I counted 7 employees total, there might have been more and all were sitting around on phones absolutely ignoring us. No seeing how the food was, if we needed anything, nothing. Asked twice for sodas and then we just got up and got them from the fridge. I’m so bummed because I LOVE hot pot but this experience made us feel so unwelcome and as if we were an inconvenience for dining there.

The prices are high, which I would be totally okay with if the atmosphere, service and ingredients matched. A bowl of local cilantro that costs 4 egp is sold for 80…

Won’t be returning back even though hot pot is one of my favorite cuisines and we eat it every...

The interior is amazing the food is to kill for but the service is questionable I was there with my friend and we had the hot pot the server mazen was so helpful he explained everything but afterwards, we were basically kicked out telling us that we had to move because someone had reserved the table noting that we did not choose the table we were sat there by the host and we had to ask them multiple times to turn on the small ac as we were literally sweating hot in that table. I asked the servers if we could smoke at the table when we first sat and they said yes the table in front of us was smoking cigarettes and both tables had ashtrays yet when we lit a cigarette we were told very rudely while being kicked out that smoking is not allowed. As I said food was amazing portions are great for the prices but the service overall is not the best I'd be worried about taking anyone there not sure if we might be kicked out right after taking the last bite of the food and not asking if we were gonna order any dessert or even let us get up in a hurry I had to finish payment at...

We went to Chuan Hotpot restaurant in a big group of 20 people (6 families with kids) to enjoy Chinese Food as it was recommended by one of the families, as one of the best Chinese food eateries in Maadi, Cairo. We arrived there around 4.30 PM, and after making our order, we had to wait for a really long time, but the food that came after the wait was incredible - sumptuous, freshly cooked, and delectable. Everyone really enjoyed the food, and the two servers (Mohamed from Sudan and Kevin from Srilanka) did a pretty good job in keeping our big crowd satisfied. We got all the Chicken items in the beginning and the leafy vegetables items came towards the end - that was only the downside as we had a vegetarian family with us and they'd to wait for really a long time.
