CSA (Community Services Association) - Reviving Community — Local services in Cairo

Lacking in so much. I have been in Egypt three years and CSA has not been a helpful resource at all. Each time I’ve to ask a question or advice, there is never any response. All classes offered cater to people who do not work- the classes are during the weekday.

*Attempt again. Arrived at 12 to go to La Boutique and Village Gift Shop on a Saturday at 12:30. LA Boutique opening hours on door read 9 a.m. CLOSED- door locked, lights on. I knocked, two women came to door, unlocked and said nothing to me, acted as though I was was an alien from a strange planet then went back to talking to one another. I walked out. THEN Village Giftshop lights off sign hours state 11 a.m. What gives CSA???? Why should I come??????? There is nothing to offer. Very unfortunate as there is unlimited...

I came here with my family who were visiting from the UK, we were excited to try the coffee shop and food places available in this compound. We were turned away because one of the girls was wearing her niqab. The security guard gave us no explanation so we decided to call and ask why the niqab is an issue for getting some coffee. I was called a terrorist over the phone by one of the employees. I was later told the owner of floating cups doesn't like the niqab and its a rule she put in place. I was very disappointed with this place especially since its a muslim-majority country and I would never experiance this in theUK. Highly wouldnt recommend to anyone who stands against...

I can't even imagine Maadi without CSA! The slogan says "The place to be" and indeed it is. Once you step inside you feel like you're in a small village, everyone greets you, and everybody knows each other. The smell of the coffee alone will make your day. If you fancy a quit place for a coffee and a book, while everyone around you either doing the same, or having a good time, then you've found it. There also lots of courses and field trips you can join, just check their calendar or take a copy from their magazine Oasis. The Gift shop is small but they have fancy stuff. I love this place.
